I’m 6’1″ and bought my tiny house for $116,000 – it didn’t need any modifications, but there was a big sacrifice in the bedroom

A VERY tall man has shared his experience after moving into a small house with his family of four.

The $116,000 block managed to feel quite roomy even without modifications, save for one major compromise.

Taylor and Brittany appeared on an episode of HGTV’s House Hunters when they decided to downsize to a tiny house.

The most obvious problem with this would be Taylor’s height – 6 foot 5.

Instead of building their own or hiring a builder for a custom design, they decided to buy a ready-made tiny house.

They specifically wanted one on wheels so they could go on road trips with their two children.

What the duo chose was a $116,000 model with a fully equipped kitchen, open living room and two loft bedrooms.

“We haven’t regretted it for a day,” Taylor said.

Although it was much smaller than the previous house, the property had some surprises characteristics like a double vanity in the bathroom.

The staircase to the loft also raised automatically to provide extra space in the room.

GREAT SACRIFICE

Upstairs in the loft was the master bedroom, but Taylor had to make a big sacrifice there.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to accommodate a California king, but the pair decided to compromise to make their tiny house dreams come true.

The small residential community plans to add 25 new units and have healthcare services – but you must meet the criteria to get a spot

Not only were Taylor and Brittany able to purchase their home mortgage-free, but they also lived rent-free.

They parked their small house on a friend’s land and used the space around it to start a small farm.

“It feels like we’re living in the country, but we’re actually only five minutes from the city,” Brittany said.

And aside from her bedroom commitment, Taylor was happy with the space in her tiny home.

“The height is great. I don’t have to bend over or crouch or anything, so it doesn’t feel super claustrophobic.”

TURNING TO TINY

Brittany and Taylor aren’t the only Americans who recently decided tiny was the way to go.

Jake and Kiva felt like they were wasting money while living in a rental, so they moved into a 20-foot-long house for the same price as a regular down payment.

The couple designed and built it from scratch, largely on their own, spending no more than $26,000.

Another homeowner built his tiny house for less than $20,000.

Or you can even move into small resort-style residential communities.
