Coleman and Shelby explained the details of building their home in a video for a small house builder (@FloatingOrbProduções).

The couple’s 420-square-foot home only cost $40,000 to build because they used a handful of money-saving options.

“[A] little house is like [having] roots, but not really, because you can pull them out and transplant them if you want,” Shelby said.

Both Shelby and Coleman said they have lived in tiny homes in the past.

His current home is in a 10-foot by 20-foot trailer. Shelby said an RV license costs about $20.

She also built an extra four-foot overhang on top of the house that makes her “feel like a queen.”

The couple said they used mortise-and-lock steel siding, cedar planks and a custom bright yellow door.

Large windows allow rays of sunlight to invade the small space.

However, the window does not open because the couple chose a cost-saving option.

Getting the proper framing would cost between $4,000 and $5,000 more.

I transformed a small shed in my parents’ garden into a cozy house – it took a week and the electrical was organized in 2

“I would love to have this window open, but I decided not to because of the funds,” Shelby explained.

“There are better things I can do with this [money].”

The house has a full kitchen, living room, second floor loft, bathroom, air conditioning and laundry room.

The interior is covered in a mix of dark wood accents and white clapboard walls.

Dozens of plants, colorful pillows and rugs add visual intrigue to warm up the home.

A skylight allows the couple to enjoy time on the home’s rooftop deck.

“It’s really such an intimate moment because you’re up in the trees,” Shelby said of the outdoor space.

SMALL HOUSE APARECIDA

Thousands of tiny homes have come online as housing prices continue to soar.

The median U.S. home price was $412,000 in September, according to Forbes.

The average price fell compared to previous quarters. However, the initial costs of purchasing a home remained high.

The Feds have used interest rates as a blunt tool to cool inflationary housing prices over the past few quarters.

While global prices continue to become more affordable, financing a home at today’s interest rates can cost buyers hundreds of dollars a month.

Tiny homes have become a popular solution to rising costs.

Homes typically cost less to build. Its environmental impact is less than that of the average American home.

The cost and ecological benefits of tiny living have inspired homeowners to rethink their housing plans.

For example, here is a college student who built his house for less than $30,000.

Plus, this homeowner listed their tiny house on Airbnb.
