A HOMEOWNER replaced his garage with a spacious 416-square-foot, two-story tiny house to live in while renting out the main house.

The Reddit user shared a tour of the home, leaving others in awe of its spacious and luxurious appearance.

Using the initials IBN, the user explained in a post that he built the house in 2019 for $80,000 Canadian dollars, which is equivalent to just over $58,000 in the US.

The cost includes construction materials, permits and “skilled labor.”

“The house is in Canada, with many building codes, so the price is a little higher than in warmer countries,” he wrote.

He connected the main house’s utilities to the tiny house to avoid two utility bills.

The house has a full kitchen with an oven, stove, large refrigerator and even a dishwasher.

The bathroom is on the first floor and has a shower and bathtub, which is almost unheard of in tiny homes.

“A spacious bathroom in a small house is important as I spend valuable time in the bathroom and kitchen. I made these spaces as big as possible,” said the Reddit user.

Also on the first floor there is a small laundry room and a comfortable living room with plenty of storage space in each.

The laundry room also functions as a closet with a rack for hanging clothes and several drawers. He also stores larger items in large containers in that room.

A staircase takes you to the bedroom and another room, which he uses as an office.

Ibn installed hanging boxes on the wall where the staircase is to add more storage.

Various hanging plants and others in planters along the second floor bring the house to life.

There is even an aquarium with aquatic plants blooming.

In the comments, people said the house was more like a “small mansion”.

“This is just beautiful! I’m really impressed with how much stuff and how much life you can fit in here! It feels lived in, cozy, and private, but doesn’t feel cluttered or claustrophobia-inducing,” one person wrote.

Another added: “Looks really cute and cozy! I loved the finish and the plants!! It looks comfortable and spacious enough.

One Reddit user even said it was bigger than his East London flat.

TINY LIFE

As home prices remain high, many people have moved into tiny homes to save money.

A family of four revealed how they bought their $20,000 custom tiny home to live debt-free.

Drew, his wife Stephanie, and their two children live in a small house on a microfarm in central Pennsylvania.

The couple had to beg the zoning board to allow them to build a house under 500 square feet, but luckily it was approved.

The house measures just over 200 square feet, with a loft where everyone sleeps together.

The stairs that give access to the attic function as a closet and hide a lot of storage.

They decided not to install an oven in the kitchen so that there would be enough space for a washing machine, refrigerator and freezer.

“We wanted our own space and not have a mortgage. We didn’t want to have to spend all that money every month,” Drew said.

“We own the land, we own the house and that was very important to me.”

Another little fan lives on a houseboat for just $200 a month.
