Tiny residential villa from $1,400 with on-site restaurant and “epic display” of an iconic mountain range

A SISTER-BROTHER duo founded Tiny House Block, Southern California’s first tiny home village.

Melissa and Jon Block proposed the idea that the community would provide easy access to some of the area’s most stunning views.

The Tiny House Block is “one hour east and 6,000 feet above San Diego” on Mount Laguna, according to its website.

The location offers a direct route to and from city and beach life and provides an “epic display” of the region’s coastal mountain range.

But if you don’t want to leave the 3.5-acre property, there is an on-site restaurant called Pine House Cafe and Tavern where you can get food and drinks.

Melissa and Jon opened the community with the hope of helping people connect with nature and live more minimalist lifestyles.

“We believe that in our modern era, to experience true health and happiness, we must turn off our electronic devices and get in touch with what really matters,” the brothers wrote on the website.

CHANGE

The Tiny House Block has tiny homes available for short- and long-term rentals.

Guests can stay as long as they want, but there are weekly discounts for those booking seven days or more.

Anyone who wants to stay for a while longer can sign a six or 12 month rental contract.

There is also the option of bringing your little house and parking it in the parking lot.

Lot rentals start at six months and then are monthly for those staying longer.

Tiny House Block regularly updates its rental page with availability. Pricing starts at $1,400 and goes up to $1,800.

Rent includes water, septic tank and trash. Electricity and gas generally cost between $50 and $75 in the summer and around $150 in the winter due to heating.

The website warns that homes rent quickly whenever one is available, so you should call a few weeks before visiting.

LUXURY LIFE

Tiny home communities are extremely popular in California.

Paradise Tiny Home Community is situated in the Coachella Valley and promises a “level of luxury” on a smaller scale.

There are 90 homes measuring less than 400 square feet each.
