A former McDonald’s corporate chef has revealed what he believes is the most expensive item on the menu.

Mike Haracz offered fans a better value alternative that offers more meat but for a cheaper price.

Haracz is a former McDonald’s corporate chef who enjoys sharing his opinion on the fast food store’s latest menus.

In a recent video posted on TikTok (@chefmikeharacz), he pointed out why ordering a Big Mac meal can mean bad value for the customer.

Looking at prices at his local McDonald’s on Uber Eats, he noticed that a Big Mac meal cost $12.09.

However, a Quarter Pounder meal cost $11.29.

“You get more meat in a Quarter Pounder,” Haracz said.

That’s because the Big Mac only has a fifth of a kilo of beef, according to the source.

Haracz also highlighted that you get an extra slice of cheese in the Quarter Pounder.

The only downside is that there’s one less slice of bread and none of that famous Big Mac sauce.

“Are you telling me this is the most expensive part of the sandwich?” he asked.

Haracz then realized that a double cheeseburger was even cheaper than the Big Mac and Quarter Pounder meals, costing just $10.79 in his area.

‘BLEW MY MIND’

“Do you want to pay extra for the lettuce and Big Mac sauce?” asked the former McDonald’s employee.

“That really surprised me.”

He said: “The Big Mac must be one of the most expensive sandwiches on the McDonald’s menu.”

WAYS TO SAVE AT MCDONALD’S

If you need to reduce the cost of your fast food outlets, try using ordering tricks.

The Deal Guy recently shared a clever way to get a Chicken McNuggets meal for almost $2 less every time.

To achieve this, customers must order the kids’ meal and then swap the fruit for chips and the juice/milk for the soft drink of their choice.

“This meal has exactly the same amount of everything in the standard six-piece McNuggets meal for $1.70 less,” promised The Deal Guy.

And McDonald’s isn’t the only place you can save money by ordering hacks.

Starbucks fans are turning to clever menu tricks to save on the cost of their fancy lattes and mochas.
