CUSTOMERS are conflicted over Walmart’s newly introduced food label.
The retail giant confirmed it would launch the “bestgoods” brand under its umbrella on Tuesday.
Several grocery items starting at less than $2 will be featured under the BetterGoods name, with a maximum price of $15 per item. Press release.
Coffee, chocolate, pasta, tortillas, almond milk, sparkling water and non-dairy frozen desserts are some of the best products shoppers will soon be able to find at Walmart.
Many options from Bettergoods’ total 300 products are also plant-based.
Walmart highlighted its decision to introduce the brand as a way to make everyday foods more accessible to its customer base.
In this effort, at least 70% of the best products, about 210 items, will be listed at prices less than $4, according to a spokesperson for the retail giant. Reuters.
While the low price certainly attracts a plethora of buyers, many are confused about better products coming out.
BIG SIMILARITIES
Walmart already has its Great Value brand, and some claimed this was essentially the retailer’s effort to compete with food labels like Target’s Good & Gather and Amazon Basics.
“I totally thought this was just a good idea and collecting at first,” one fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter about Bettergoods products.
“Basic Amazon vibes,” another person added.
“Surprised this was the best they could do.”
“They couldn’t find a better name?” a third asked.
“A big change for them,” said another person.
Others supported Walmart launching better products, despite comparisons to Target and Amazon.
“But seriously, this shows a big pivot for Walmart trying to reach a wider audience…” said one shopper.
“I think this will be huge for them.”
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Walmart executives also believe Bettergoods will be a big positive for the company, saying it will be the largest privately held food and beverage launch in two decades.
“Today’s customers expect more from the private brands they buy – they want affordable, quality products to elevate their overall eating experience,” noted Scott Morris, Walmart’s senior vice president of private brands, food and consumables, in Tuesday’s release. -fair.
