COSTCO is known for its 100% satisfaction guarantee, but members are now kicking themselves for taking advantage of the store’s generosity.
Buyers reported finding themselves getting exorbitant returns, from half-eaten meals to sofas and TVs.
The Reddit r/Costco community is an unofficial place for shoppers and employees to vent about all things Costco.
Lately, it’s been inundated with members and associates complaining about the most ridiculous returns they’ve ever seen, including both successful and unsuccessful refund attempts.
Costco has a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
This means any item can be returned at any time for a full refund for any reason.
However, employees can use their discretion if they think a member is abusing the policy.
DINNER WINNER
That didn’t stop one customer from getting his money back on a half-eaten turkey dinner.
“I was going through membership/return on my way to the food court and noticed not one, but two entire turkey carcasses,” one buyer wrote in a Reddit post.
“Along with obviously opened boxes of stuffing, cranberry sauce, cutlery, plates, etc.
“Basically leftovers from a full meal and all the fixings for 20 to 30 people, obviously eaten and returned.”
The Redditor said the “absolutely crazy” customer received a refund after telling the employee at the counter that he was “not satisfied with his purchase.”
EYE PIE
Shoppers were also shocked to see a woman receive a full refund for a three-quarters eaten pecan pie.
According to one Redditor, she purchased the bakery item two days after Thanksgiving, saying it was “very sweet.”
She got her money back, but only to the annoyance of other members.

EVERYTHING TO SEE
Another member called a fellow Costco regular “an absolutely psychotic human” for returning a 22-year-old TV.
Starting in 2007, Costco implemented a 90-day limit on returns of electronic items.
But the store will be able to fulfill the electronics refund request if the purchase was made before 2007.
SLIDING SOFA
One customer, however, found himself on the wrong side of Costco’s policy when he tried to return a 15-year-old couch.
After the return was denied, they threw the furniture outside the store, photos on social media showed.
“I hope Costco cancels your membership for abandoning your c**p in the store,” demanded one of her colleagues.
GAME TIME
Another customer who decided to take Costco’s policy to the extreme returned a 15-year-old play set.
The member told the returns desk he no longer needed it now that his “kids are grown and out of the house,” an employee wrote in one thread.
“Maybe it’s a little ridiculous, but it’s a benefit to be a member with us!” they wrote.
CROWN JEWELRY
The highest reported refund amount on Reddit is $44,000 for three pieces of jewelry.
However, the customer was once again banned from purchasing jewelry, according to the post.
Here’s why you don’t even need a receipt to return an item at Costco.
And find out which three states still don’t have Costco and why.
