Beloved restaurant with 60 locations is closing after 21 years — and devastated employees found out on Facebook

FANS of a popular restaurant were shocked to learn it was closing a New Jersey location as customers fought to see if their reservations would be honored.

The Melting Pot in Westwood announced its closure in a message posted on Facebook and the restaurant’s website.

“We regret to announce that the Melting Pot of Westwood will close on Sunday, June 2, 2024. The location is closing indefinitely due to the opportunity to sell the property,” said the declaration to read.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the Westwood community for 21 years and to be a part of the fondue celebrations since 2003.”

The statement continued in the restaurant websitethanking employees and customers for their many years of business.

“We would like to thank our many loyal guests; it has been a pleasure serving you all these years and we are grateful for your business. Often family celebrations like birthdays, graduations or other happy occasions, I hope we have played our part,” they wrote they.

However, customers expressed concerns about upcoming bookings in the Facebook post.

“Someone from this Caldeirão needs to call me!!! I have reservations here for a Sweet 16 at the end of June!” wrote one person.

“I booked a limo to take 14 girls to the restaurant. The invitations have already been sent out! That’s how I found out!”

She added that when she called the restaurant, she was told that employees found out about the closure on Facebook, just like she did.

The US Sun reached out to the restaurant for more information about the closure.

Customers with gift cards for the restaurant can use them at any Melting Pot location.

There are two other locations in New Jersey, in Maple Shade and Red Bank, but the closest to Westwood is in White Plains, New York.

CLOSING TIME

Several restaurant chains face closures across the country.

Earlier this week, Chili’s announced the closure of a Maine store just days before it happened.

The manager of the South Portland restaurant – about 60 miles south of Augusta – revealed it would close on May 7.

The closure affected about 35 employees and it was unclear whether they had the opportunity to transfer to nearby locations, the newspaper reported. Bangor Daily News.

There is only one other Chili’s location in Maine, in Bangor, about 130 miles away.

Restaurant Closings in 2024

BOSSes of major restaurant chains have announced a series of restaurant closures. The US Sun has compiled a list of those affected by the network.

  • Biscuit Barrel: Stores in Medford, Oregon, Columbia, South Carolina and Sacramento, California, closed.
  • Mod Pizza: Bosses drastically closed 27 stores, including in the state of California.
  • Frisch’s Big Boy: Restaurant bosses have confirmed the closure of a restaurant in Covington, Kentucky.
  • Two dolars: Four restaurants in Ohio are set to close.
  • Pepper: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has closed permanently.
  • Friendly: Bosses have confirmed that an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, will close.
  • Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed at the end of March.
  • Danny: Two restaurants in Boise and Nampa, Idaho, have closed.
  • Carl’s Jr.: The first location in Boise, Idaho, has closed.

Fans will have to cross the border into New Hampshire and head to Dover or Seabrook.

“We have always had a pleasant experience here,” one customer wrote in a Facebook post announcing the closure.

“I’m sad to see him go.”

Just a few weeks ago, another Chili’s store in Irvine, California, closed.

Another Chili’s in Port Arthur, Texas — about 80 miles east of Houston — also closed this year.

One of Chili’s main rivals is also closing stores after company executives warned that between 25 and 35 restaurants would close.

Waffle House also faced closures and warned customers with a note taped to the door.
