A COSTCO employee claimed his shift took a surprising turn when a customer attempted to return an item covered in animal feces.
In a post on Reddit, the Costco employee said he was surprised by the refund, but the company gave the customer his money back.
A person claiming to be a former Costco employee wrote on the store’s unofficial page: r/Costco.
“I worked at Costco about ten years ago,” they wrote.
“I’ll never forget it – one guy brought back his extremely used chicken coop for return.”
They said the animal’s return to the cage stuck in their mind a decade later for an unsanitary reason.
“It was covered in shit,” they wrote.
The employee claimed the store allowed the return but immediately threw away the item.
They called the experience “savage.”
Dozens of commenters joked about the customer’s motivation for returning the chicken coop.
“I don’t need this anymore. I ate the chicken,” one person wrote, cosplaying the now chicken-less customer.
