A COSTCO employee has spoken out about the most bizarre return she processed that left her embarrassed about company policy.

A customer managed to return a half-eaten piece of steak.

However, a Costco employee shared that the return policy left them “embarrassed” after she accepted the return of two used toilets.

“A woman came in and returned two dirty toilets that she had purchased online more than five years ago,” the worker said. Business Insider.

The reason for the member’s return was that she “didn’t need them anymore,” the employee explained.

“She didn’t even clean them!” the disgusted employee continued.

“I’m embarrassed that we ended up taking them back.”

However, the customer was required to take the bathrooms outside to clean them before the return was processed and accepted, the worker noted.

The retailer’s return policy offers a 100% satisfaction or money-back guarantee, with only a few exceptions.

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

While some have been accused of abusing the policy, another Costo employee revealed how the retailer still benefits from it and the rules in place to prevent abuse.

On TikTok, the former employee revealed that employees can access members’ entire purchase history, including their returns.

This helps them assess whether a member returns in series or not.

But for those who make infrequent returns, even if odd, Costco benefits from returning those items, she said.

“They know you’re spending a lot more than you’re returning on average,” she explained.

“Costco knows it’s advantageous to have this kind of great return policy because it brings you back to the store, we take good care of you, you return your item, so you’ll probably be there and buy more stuff.”

As mentioned, the retailer has a system in place to identify those suspected of abusing the policy and using Costco as a rental service.

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

  • Electronics – Returns will be accepted within 90 days from the date the member received the product.
  • Diamonds – 1.00 ct or larger must be returned with all original documentation within 48 hours and will be inspected for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages – These items cannot be returned by law.
  • Items with a limited shelf life, such as batteries and tires, cannot be returned.
  • Special order kiosk and custom installed programs may only be returned or refunded if under warranty repair/replacement.
  • Gold bars, silver bars and coins are non-refundable.
  • Store Cards are non-refundable.
  • Airline and live performance event items are non-refundable.

Costco memberships can be canceled and refunded at any time if the customer is dissatisfied.

The US Sun previously reported on a buyer who had her membership revoked after trying to return a printer.

Maryam Nicksolat wanted to return her six-year-old printer to the major retailer that was not included on the 90-day tech product returns list.

However, when she attempted to return the broken printer that she claimed never worked, the retailer revoked her membership due to reaching the limit for returning items.

Members risk having their privileges revoked for returning between 60% and 70% of purchases, according to personal finance company The climb.

“Costco reserves the right to refuse membership to any applicant, and membership may be terminated at Costco’s discretion and without cause,” the retailer said. warn.
