McDonald’s has introduced the Grimace shake to Canada, leaving many fans wondering if it will return to the United States.

The purple-colored drink was available in the U.S. last year for a limited four-week run in June and July.

This year, it’s available exclusively in Canada, but many North American fans are begging for its return.

“Bring back the frown!” one demanded X.

“I miss you, shake your face”, said another.

A third agreed: “We just want the grimace shake to go back.”

Meanwhile, Canadian McDonald’s fans are delighted that the Grimace shake has arrived in the Great White North.

“I’m so excited! Welcome to Canada, Grimace!” wrote one on Instagram.

“I’m shaking with this news,” said another.

McDonald’s remains silent on social media about whether the Grimace shake will return to the US.

McDonald’s is set to make changes that will affect 150 million customers – they say it will improve the way people order food

The US Sun has reached out to McDonald’s for more information.

WHAT IS FACE SHAKE?

The Grimace shake has proven to be one of the most popular limited edition items at McDonald’s in recent years.

The fast food chain never confirmed the exact flavor of the shake, leaving fans guessing.

Many said it tasted like gum, berries or Fruity Pebbles, reported TODAY at the time.

More changes at McDonald’s

McDonald’s is undergoing a series of changes — from new menu items to nationwide price adjustments

Menu items:

Surprise menu additions include two new variations on the popular McCrispy – a fried chicken sandwich with crinkle-cut pickles and applewood-smoked bacon on a buttered potato roll.

Two new additions include McCrispy Cajun Ranch Bacon and McCrispy Cajun Ranch Deluxe Bacon, available for a limited time. They come with crinkle-cut pickles and a creamy Cajun ranch dressing. The deluxe version adds shredded lettuce and Roma tomatoes.

McDonald’s also launched the Double Big Mac, with four burgers stacked between three buns.

Each burger is topped with finely diced onion, melted cheese, pickles, shredded lettuce and Big Mac sauce. The sandwich made its limited debut once in 2020, before the coronavirus pandemic, but was criticized for its sauce-to-patty ratio.

Price increases:

McDonald’s joined Chipotle in saying prices would rise for consumers as fast food wages hit $20 in California.

The price increases were confirmed in an earnings call last fall, though it’s not yet clear which items will be affected or when customers will see them.

This has also led local small businesses to raise their wages to compete with fast-food restaurants.

The shake was released as a standalone product and as part of the Grimace Birthday Meal, which came with a 10-piece Big Mac or McNuggets and fries.

WHO IS GRIMA?

The Grimace meal and shake were launched to celebrate the 52nd birthday of the McDonald’s character Grimace.

Introduced in the McDonaldland media franchise in 1971 as “Evil Grimace,” the original character had four arms so he could steal milkshakes.

In the 1970s, he appeared in McDonald’s commercials alongside the better-known Ronald McDonald.

McDonald’s customers are angered by the chain’s decision to phase out self-serve soda machines over the next decade.
