PRINGLES has launched a new product unlike anything launched by the brand in the last 15 years.

But some consumers think the idea was borrowed from another snack company.

Pringles has unveiled its new Pringles Mingles – a puffed snack available in three flavors.

It is the first time in 15 years that Pringles has launched a product sold in bags, as opposed to the famous cans.

The new offering promises “a cute, irresistibly delicious and shareable snacking experience unlike anything you’ve ever tried at Pringles,” according to a press release.

Hitting shelves in October, Pringles Mingles will be available in three flavors:

  • Cheddar and sour cream
  • Sharp white cheddar and ranch
  • Dill and Ranch Pickles

The snacks will be crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside.

While Pringles remains committed to the can, this time the company has decided to introduce its new flavors to consumers in snack bags.

“Our iconic Pringles can is part of our identity – and it’s not going anywhere – but we’re always looking for new ways to innovate and satisfy our fans’ latest cravings,” said Mauricio Jenkins, U.S. marketing lead for Pringles.

“Not only does this cute and airy snack give fans a new way to try Pringles, but its easy-to-share packaging creates a new way to enjoy your favorite snack with friends and familywhether munching at home on movie night, at a party or anywhere.”

Pringles Mingles will be sold in supermarkets and convenience stores all over the country.

SNACK-ESPIRIA

However, some consumers think the new Mingles were inspired by the launch of Goldfish Crisps in December 2023.

Launched in three flavors, the product adds a “light and airy” touch to the classic fish-shaped snack.

Responding to a Facebook post about Pringles Mingles, it was written: ‘It’s giving away the new Goldfish Crisps concept.’

Another said they “sound very similar to the texture of recent Goldfish Crisps.”

Other new snacks

Several new snacks have recently hit the market, including

  • A new hot honey chicken flavor has been created by Minute Rice to capitalize on the “swicy” trend
  • Wheaties Debuts Largest Protein Offering in the Cereal Aisle with Wheaties Protein
  • Harvest Snaps created its first line of fruit snacks for kids
  • Condiment fans can enjoy a new buffalo mayonnaise and garlic aioli from Kraft
  • And Walmart launched a new private label line of affordable snacks

A BRIEF HISTORY OF PRINGLES

Since its launch in 1968, Pringles has become one of the most recognized snacks in the world.

The unique can was initially designed to address customer complaints about broken pieces and empty air in snack bags.

Pringles has a lower potato content than many other chips – just 42%.

The remainder is made up of wheat starch, flour, vegetable oils, emulsifiers, salt and seasonings.
