A COSTCO employee was shocked when a customer brought leftover food back to the warehouse for a refund.
They ate $200 worth of meat and returned a small fraction of the original cost.
Costco has a return policy that allows members to get their money back on items they weren’t 100% satisfied with.
However, several members took advantage of the generous policy to return items they were clearly satisfied with.
This was the case of a buyer, who hardly had a return to present at the warehouse.
An employee shared the details of the return in a post on the Costco subreddit.
“Oh my God, the damn audacity of some members is so – aren’t you ashamed to reciprocate?” they started.
“Someone bought a sirloin bone at Cryovac for about $200 over the holidays and returned a cooked container of bones and fat.
“Yes, they were fully reimbursed for giving back literally .13 cents worth of fat and bones.
“Lmao, eye roll.”
Other shoppers also returned already consumed food in hopes of getting their money back.
A Costco member witnessed a lady return three half-eaten food items.
She returned a half-eaten container of pickles, secured with two rubber bands.
The second half-eaten item was half a bag of frozen peas opened with scissors instead of ziplock.
And finally, half a box of frozen egg rolls completed their return.
“I hope she pays with karma, because I really walked away thinking this was an abuse of policy,” the buyer said.
COSTCO STRIKES BACK
Karma came out to support some Costco members for their returns, including one shopper who lost her membership due to a little-known rule.
Maryam Nicksolat bought a printer at her local Costco in 2012 and had problems with it but forgot to return it.

Six years later, Nicksolat brought the printer back to the retailer to return it and was reimbursed for the printer and ink.
However, she was told she had run out of returns, forcing the retailer to revoke her membership card.
“It is evident from a review of your membership account that you are not satisfied with the products you purchased from Costco and we are unable to satisfy you as a member,” said Jeff Long, senior vice president of Northeast operations.
In other Costco news, a buyer returned an “absolutely destroyed” top-of-the-line grill for a brand new model.
Additionally, another member returned an item that “looks like it fell out of a helicopter,” leaving people worried that it would ruin the return policy.
