FAMILY Dollar is closing another store in the same city already hit by two closures.
The closing location in Jacksonville’s Arlington neighborhood is just one of hundreds of Family Dollar stores closing across the country.
The Downtown store is expected to close in a matter of days, according to the Jax’s Daily Log.
It may come as a shock to some, as another location in the neighborhood closed just over a month ago.
The soon-to-close store has a closing sign in the window scheduling the closing for May 25th at 7pm.
There is up to a 75% discount on sales at the site, but according to an employee at the site, much of the merchandise had already been sold by May 20, they told the Daily Record.
The store clerk claimed the closure was due to poor sales.
However, employees will be transferred to other Family Dollar.
Additionally, a Family Dollar in East Arlington is also scheduled to close this week.
The Monument’s closing is also at a 75% discount and is scheduled to close at 7pm, although no date has been specified, according to the Daily Record.
The move comes after Dollar Tree, the parent company of Family Dollar, announced in March that 1,000 stores would close nationwide.
The first store cited as part of this closure was in Dames Pointe Plaza in Arlington, which had a 50% off sale.
‘DECISIVE ACTION’
Under plans for mass closures, about 600 Family Dollar stores are expected to close in the first half of 2024.
This is scheduled to be followed by an additional 370 Family Dollar closings and 30 Dollar Tree closings over the course of the year. next Few years.
Following News of the closings, buyers were worried about their budgets.
“With the economy the way it is, it helps me buy things I can’t get anywhere else,” said John, an Arlington resident. News4Jax after the first closure in the neighborhood.

There are still more than 40 Family Dollar stores in Jacksonville, but the store names planned for future closure has not yet been named.

The mass closure of stories is a result of inflation, according to CBS News.
As prices rise across the board, customers have been checking prices and shopping elsewhere if possible, in an attempt to save money where possible.
Dollar Tree President and CEO Rick Dreiling discussed the closures in a Press release in March.
“We are accelerating our implementation of multiple pricing at Dollar Tree and taking decisive action to improve profitability and unlock value at Family Dollar.”
The press release added that closures occur when contracts expire.
