The South Florida chain had eight bars at its peak in 2010, but has now been reduced to none following the closure of the Coconut Creek burger joint.

“Thank you for all your years of patronage,” reads a sign posted on the locked door.

“It was a pleasure serving you.”

This comes just months after the Coral Springs location closed in February.

This followed the closure of the Deerfield Beach restaurant two weeks earlier.

After hearing the news of Coconut Creek’s closure, fans mourned the loss.

“Wow, unreal! So many amazing memories there!” one wrote on Facebook.

“I learned a lot there and made a lot of friends, thank you for everything.”

“So many memories!! It’s going to be so weird driving down the street and not seeing that there!” another added.

“Truly the end of an era,” said a third.

While local fans paid homage to Bru’s Room, others were already keeping an eye on the land that would soon become vacant.

“The location is good, how much are they asking for rent?” one Facebook user asked.

Others begged for a “good restaurant” to come to the area, some asking for Flanigans or Original Steakhouse.

‘Hit hard’

Meanwhile, Bru’s Room in Pompano Beach, which separated from the corporate chain 12 years ago, issued a statement following the abrupt closure of the last Sports Grill location.

The Pompano Beach restaurant is owned by Eddie Hauck, who partnered with Brudzinski to open the first location in Margate.

This restaurant has been split in two, with Eddie Hauck’s Wings ‘n Ribs on one side and Bru’s Room Sports Bar on the other.

Restaurant Closings in 2024

BOSSes of major restaurant chains have announced a series of restaurant closures. The US Sun has compiled a list of those affected by the network.

  • Biscuit Barrel: Stores in Medford, Oregon, Columbia, South Carolina and Sacramento, California, closed.
  • Mod Pizza: Bosses drastically closed 27 stores, including in the state of California.
  • Frisch’s Big Boy: Restaurant bosses have confirmed the closure of a restaurant in Covington, Kentucky.
  • Two dolars: Four restaurants in Ohio are set to close.
  • Pepper: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has closed permanently.
  • Friendly: Bosses have confirmed that an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, will close.
  • Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed at the end of March.
  • Danny: Two restaurants in Boise and Nampa, Idaho, have closed.
  • Carl’s Jr.: The first location in Boise, Idaho, has closed.

Hauck now privately owns the Pompano Beach location and has assured fans he’s not going anywhere.

“It hits our hearts hard!” a Facebook post said about the closure.

“Today we discovered that all the remaining Bru’s Room stores have closed their doors!

“We are very saddened by this news because what Eddie Hauck and Bob Brudzinski created was fantastic!”

Reasons for the closure of Bru’s Room Sports Grills were not readily provided.

In February, the Sun Sentinel reached out to Brudzinski and other senior members of the network about the closures earlier this year but did not hear back.

The owner of the land where the Coral Springs restaurant was located suggested this was due to the expiration of the lease.

“Maybe they didn’t want to renew,” he told the outlet at the time.

Meanwhile, the Pompano Beach location was asked what would happen to the remaining furniture and other equipment left at the Coconut Creek diner.

The restaurant, apparently surprised by the sudden closure, admitted, “We have no idea what they are planning to do with the equipment or anything else.”

The US Sun has reached out to Bru’s Room Sports Grill for comment.
