WALMART is opening two new larger format stores that will focus on offering value, speed and convenience to customers.

These will be the first two of more than 150 Walmart stores to open or convert to Neighborhood Markets over the next five years.

The new locations will open in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and the Vine City neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia.

The Florida location will be about an hour from Panama City Beach.

Neighborhood Markets will remain smaller than normal Walmart locations, but the new stores will be about 17,000 square feet larger than the current markets.

The two new locations will have 57,000 square feet of sales space and pickup and delivery space.

Shoppers will find a wider variety across the store, with the biggest changes coming to the Fresh departments.

New items will be introduced in the bakery, produce, meat and dairy aisles. The expanded deli will also have more hot case options.

The updated layout features wider aisles, giving customers more space to shop.

Customers can also take advantage of the stores’ Health Services Rooms to receive vaccinations and private consultations.

MORE TO COME

Last month, Walmart announced that four new locations were being built in Texas — including an innovative supercenter.

Customers in Celina, Cypress, Frisco and Melissa would no longer need to travel to the next town to buy groceries.

Self-checkout ban affecting millions faces crucial test as expert warns it won’t solve Walmart and Target’s ‘major crisis’

The expansion marks the first time Walmart has opened new cities since 2018, according to Dallas Morning News.

The Frisco location will be a new Supercenter, and after construction begins this summer, it is expected to be the first to open.

Walmart representatives said the company has remodeled 200 locations in Texas over the past two years, including 75 stores in North Texas.

“Over the next five years, Walmart plans to build or convert more than 150 stores while continuing our existing store remodeling program,” said Walmart President and CEO John Furner. he said in January.

“These efforts represent millions of dollars in capital investment in labor, supplies and tax revenues, which benefit their respective communities.”

Recent changes at Walmart

Walmart has made several changes recently and not all of them have been well received by customers.

Last month, Walmart shocked many when it closed its 51 U.S. health centers due to high costs and low profits.

“There are a number of things that were going well and we really want to be part of the solution to improve healthcare in this country,” said Walmart US CEO Doug McMillon.

“But the reality is that, given reimbursement rates and service costs, we can no longer see a path to achieving an acceptable level of profitability.”

However, Walmart held a Wellness Day earlier this month, offering free glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure testing and “affordable” vaccines.

Walmart has come under fire from shoppers who complained they had to wait more than 30 minutes to pay for their purchases under a new self-checkout policy.

The retailer’s former CEO warned of a “bubble” that could push some customers to other stores.
