A COSTCO member took advantage of the warehouse’s generous return policy to get his money back.
They were met with disappointed responses from other Costco members when they returned a worn-out children’s toy set after a year.
In a recent post on the Costco subreddit, a customer shared their “disgraceful” return.
They explained how they bought their daughter a water activity table last spring.
“It was fun, but the hand pump for water started to get really hard to pump and then the arm that goes up and down broke,” the buyer wrote.
The customer dried and disassembled the large activity table, bringing it back to the retailer in two full carts.
“It looked like hell, all sun-faded and water-stained, but we’ve been using it consistently since we got it,” they said.
“We got a lot of head shaking and grumbling while we waited in line.”
The buyer explained that the item had a three-year warranty, so he considered it a reasonable return because the product was unusable.
“They returned it without any problems. I loved Costco,” they said.
SHOCKINGLY GOOD SERVICE
In the same Reddit thread, another customer shared the exceptional customer service they received when returning a home security camera system.
The 10-year member noticed the footage was very slow and wondered if they could return it based on other readily accepted returns they had read about online.
The buyer requested customer service on two separate occasions to ensure his return would be accepted before removing the elaborate camera system.
Both times, they were sure the return would be good.
“Still in shock but delighted with the experience, I assured her everything was under control,” they wrote, taking extra precautions out of fear the store would refuse the return.
“No. Just a ‘Can I see your membership card?’ and ‘Swipe or tap the card you want the refund to.'”

The customer was shocked at how simple Costco’s return process was.
They were asked what was wrong with the product and showed the employee a video on their phone.
“He typed up the explanation and I was out the door in probably three minutes,” the shopper said. “100% impressed.”
Other Costo shoppers were also surprised by the warehouse’s generous return policy.
Costco customers were shocked when a member returned $44,000 worth of products.
Others “stopped cold” when a buyer returned an entire turkey meal for 30 people for a full refund.
