PIZZA Hut has left some fans disappointed with its latest menu item – the melty cheeseburger.
Customers have accused the chain of lacking originality and say Domino’s has done better.
Pizza Hut added the melty cheeseburger to its menu this month.
The chain’s first entry into the burger business features a thin pizza base with a folded Parmesan crust and loaded with beef.
“Toppings” include applewood-smoked bacon, onion, mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
To complete the culinary experience, it is served with hamburger sauce as a side dish.
Pizza Hut guests can order the cheeseburger pizza along with crispy fries (or four boneless wings) and a Pepsi from the My Hut Box, starting at $6.99.
However, the new item did not prove popular with all customers.
“Is it just me or does this whole product seem uninspired and boring?” wrote one in Reddit.
“I’m glad they’re trying something, but…try something else.”
Another compared it to the Papadias sold at Papa John’s, but said he “didn’t want to try cheeseburger pizza.”
One commented: “The thin crust is too crispy for a sandwich like this.”
“Didn’t Domino’s have a pretty decent cheeseburger?” she wrote a fourth.
DOMINO DID IT
In 2020, Domino’s launched a cheeseburger pizza with mustard sauce, American cheese, beef, fresh onion, diced tomatoes, shredded provolone and cheddar cheese.
The idea came about after Domino bosses noticed social media users complaining about “soggy burgers” as the pandemic drove up the use of food delivery services.
However, the cheeseburger pizza was only available as a limited-time item and shows no signs of returning.
PIZ-ZA THE ACTION
Not every Pizza Hut fan has a negative opinion about the new cheeseburger pizza.
Some shared their enthusiasm for the hybrid meal on social media.
“Buy one for yourself, they’re fantastic. Try the new melty cheeseburger!!” one customer wrote in a Facebook post.
So, honey, a Cheeseburger Melt is what happens when a cheeseburger and a pizza love each other too much.
