A COSTCO customer shared his surprise and delight upon learning about the store’s return policy.
The shopper explained the two steps Costco staff told them to take to complete a refund for a used item that was no longer wanted.
Editor @field101 told the r/Costco subreddit about their surprise encounter.
This person explained that they had been a member for 10 years, but had only returned one or two items in that time.
The buyer explained that he purchased a camera system from the store last April, but only started using it earlier this year.
Eld101 said he felt image quality was slow and “unusable” after installing six of the eight cameras.
Despite the situation and the time that had passed since purchasing the item, the buyer discovered that he could return the system.
“One of the girls at the returns desk quickly spoke to who I assume was a supervisor and she said yes,” said the Redditor.
“I asked again on a second trip to confirm as it was going to be a project to remove the ladder to remove the cameras. Same answer.”
The Redditor said he was skeptical about the response and returned to the store with the cameras and all components to return.
They recalled the two steps an employee told them to complete the return.
““I can see your membership card” and “Swipe or tap the card you want a refund for”” said the shopper.
They added that the employee also asked what was wrong with the item.
“He typed up the explanation and I was out the door in probably 3 minutes,” they said.
Commenters insisted that this experience was not unique and was common across the network.
“This is pretty much the norm for Costco returns,” one person wrote.
