A thrift store enthusiast shared how she made more than $400 on a glass item she found.
Colorado-based YouTuber Yvon Thrifty Rich regularly takes to the streaming platform to share his latest discoveries.
Not only does she impress with her recent purchases, but Yvon shares the price she sold them for on eBay.
On a videoshe told how a glass hand took hundreds of dollars for her.
And the even better news was that she had another one at home.
“I found two of these for $3.99 each,” Yvon told viewers.
She displayed the listing for one of the glass hands she managed to sell on eBay.
The other had a chip, so she plans to upgrade it rather than try to sell it.
However, despite this small setback, the glass hand without the chip sold for US$425.
It was made in French Sabino glass and hand-signed in the style of French opalescence.
It is simultaneously blue, white and colorless, in the typical opalescence style.
Sabino glass was made in Paris by Marius Ernest Sabino in the Art Deco period of the 1920s.
Although its production was halted during World War II, it was restarted in the 1960s and was purchased in the 1970s by the Sabino Crystal Company, according to The Courante.
Despite the move to Houston, Texas, the glass continues to be made in France and is still marked or engraved as a way of verifying that it is genuine Sabino glass.
A similar glass hand being sold in Etsy it is billed as a “rare find” as well as “a stunning addition to any Art Deco collection.”
“The unique theme and style of this sculpture make it a highly sought after piece by any collector,” the description adds.
After sharing her big scoop, viewers praised Yvon for her talent, while one of them offered some advice.
“You go, girl! That glass hand is so cool!” one said.
“Can someone fix the hand,” added another.
“I don’t think I would update it yet.”
Meanwhile, another thrifter found an old-fashioned accessory for just $30.
Instead of being outdated and worthless, it was 18-karat gold and, even with some damage, is worth more than $1,700.
