Redditor Nicey713 shared her in-store experience on the r/Costco subreddit.

Nicey713 said she visited the store to return some clothes that didn’t fit, in her publish.

The angry poster said he was shocked by the shopper in front of him who was returning three bags of food.

“The lady in front of me returned: half a container of pickles eaten. Literally half the container was left – held closed with two rubber bands,” said the Redditor.

“Half a bag of frozen peas – she didn’t even use the ziplock to open them – she cut them with scissors.

“Half a box of frozen egg rolls.”

Nicey713 shared her surprise and said she had “NO idea you could return everything.”

The member also shared a Costco employee’s apparent response.

“I mentioned it to the person at the counter because I couldn’t believe it,” they recall.

“She just shrugged her shoulders and said yes – they take anything in return.”

Nicey713 was not impressed with this buyer’s actions and suggested that this should not be done.

“I hope she pays with karma because I really came away thinking this was an abuse of the policy,” the Redditor wrote.

Other Costco shoppers shared their unusual return experiences in the post’s comments.

“I returned a soft watermelon,” said one person.

Costco Return Policy

What are the details of the famous return policy?

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

There are some exceptions to this 100% satisfaction guarantee, which are:

  • Electronics – Returns will be accepted within 90 days from the date the member received the product.
  • Diamonds – 1.00 ct or larger must be returned with all original documentation within 48 hours and will be inspected for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages – These items cannot be returned by law.
  • Items with a limited shelf life, such as batteries and tires, cannot be returned.
  • Special order kiosk and custom installed programs may only be returned or refunded if under warranty repair/replacement.
  • Gold bars, silver bars and coins are non-refundable.
  • Store Cards are non-refundable.
  • Airline and live performance event items are non-refundable.

Costco memberships can be canceled and refunded at any time if the customer is dissatisfied.

“I called the store and explained that I bought it yesterday and the inside was a mess.

“They asked if I would have to bring the whole cut melon back and they said no, just a big piece in a zip lock.

“No problem getting my feedback as it was unsatisfactory.”

MONEY BACK

Nicey713 wasn’t the only person to share their confusion about the store’s policy, US Sun previously reported.

A store employee explained why a particular return of crab legs left them especially upset.

The US Sun has reached out to Costco for comment.
