When was Albertsons founded?
Albertsons was founded on July 21, 1939, by Joe Albertson, former Safeway district manager.
Albertson reportedly saved about $5,000 and borrowed $7,500 from his wife’s Aunt Bertie to launch the first Albertsons store in Boise, Idaho.
The partnership with entrepreneur LS Skaggs and the first combined food/drug store launched in Texas became a huge success.
Today, Albertsons stores can be found primarily on the West Coast.
