BURGER King is bringing back its $5 meal in a bid to rival McDonald’s.
However, customers are concerned about portion sizes.
Burger King is about to launch a $5 ‘Your Way Meal’ as fast food competitors wage a price war.
As first reported by Bloombergthe meal will include the customer’s choice of three sandwiches, fries, chicken nuggets and a drink.
For the sandwich, the options will be Whopper Jr, Chicken Jr or Bacon Cheeseburger.
“We are bringing back our $5 Your Way meal as agreed with our franchisees in April,” the company said in a statement to USA TODAY.
The promotion should last a few months when it hits menus.
While it’s not yet known when Your Way Meal will make its debut, Burger King executives said they want to beat the $5 meal’s arrival at McDonald’s on June 25.
MCDONALD’S MEAL
The $5 McDonald’s meal will include a McChicken or McDouble, four-piece chicken McNuggets, medium fries and a drink
However, the promotion will only last for a few weeks.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said the chain is “focused on affordability” during an earnings call in late April.
It has suffered consumer backlash due to the inflation of its menu prices in the last decade.
SMALL THINGS?
Burger King hasn’t made clear what size portions of fries, nuggets and drinks will be in the $5 meal.
This has caused some customers to worry that the portions are small.
“Let me guess – a fry and a small drink,” one predicted Reddit.
“For just 25 cents less you can get a super small one!” joked another.
A Burger King fan has shared his solution to ending hunger.
“These are usually smaller portions, but still, if you’re really hungry, for about $12 including tax, you can get two of these offerings and get a total of eight items — not a bad deal.
