The clothing and footwear retailer is closing stores in four states and offering sales starting at 20% off.

There are two stores closing in New Jersey, in Freehold and Springfield.

“We are actively working to relocate as many employees as possible from these affected locations to nearby Bob’s and Eastern Mountain Sports stores,” a company statement reads.

Eastern Mountain Sports is a sister store that sells outdoor clothing and equipment.

“These closures were a challenging but necessary step to ensure the company’s longevity,” the statement continues.

“We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of all of our employees and will continue to serve our loyal customers who have known and loved our brands for decades.”

FINAL SALES

A Bob’s shopper shared details about the closing sale in a Facebook post.

“Run, don’t walk! Bob’s Stores sale, store closing sale starting now,” she urged buyers.

‘You’ve abandoned us,’ shoppers say as they protest store closures with 285 locations and blast alternatives

She explained that shoppers can get an extra 10% off the sale and an additional 20% off their entire purchase, with “absolutely no exclusions.”

Some of the brands for sale include Nike, Adidas and official gear from teams like the Yankees and Giants.

Sales extend to online shopperswhere customers can get between 30% and 50% off everything as part of a “total stock explosion”.

Due to discount, all sales are final.

Despite the sales, customers were upset to learn of the closure.

“Just received news that Bob’s Stores Footwear & Apparel is closing this Sunday, the very quick closing took us by surprise, come in now to use your gift cards and rewards,” wrote one shopper.

“As a resident of Southington, it is disappointing. There is no other place in town to buy sneakers,” another customer added.

All about Bob’s

Bob’s Stores sells shoes and clothing for anyone with an active lifestyle

The company launched in 1954 in Middletown, Connecticut, and has since grown to 27 stores throughout the Northeast.

Founder Bob Lapidus founded the company on a simple principle: “Treat every customer with respect and dignity and they will come back again and again.”

A typical Bob’s Store has an average of 20,000 pairs of shoes from brands like Nike, Timerbland, New Balance and Adidas.

The store’s popular rewards program offers shoppers $10 for every $200 spent and tons of exclusive offers throughout the year.

A SIMILAR STORY

Clothing retailer Rue21 announced it would close 39 stores in a single state after filing for bankruptcy.

The Pennsylvania-based company will close all 540 of its locations, starting with locations in Georgia, according to Correction.

Photos on Facebook showed the store’s advertising discounts of 50% to 70% as part of its sale.

Stores are expected to close over the next three weeks, according to CNN.

Rue21 got tired of selling its stores, but couldn’t find a buyer who would pay more than the value of the inventory itself.

The company already had luck with this tactic when it sold hundreds of locations in a 2017 bankruptcy filing.

The 99 Cents Store was in a similar situation, but got a new lease of life after a rival bought 11 stores to keep them from closing.

And a popular restaurant has confirmed that an iconic venue will close after 30 years.
