Photos of the special painting were shared on a publish on the r/ThriftStoreHauls subreddit.

Redditor Skimmilkskim said he realized the photo was of the famous artist due to a signature.

They discovered Rockwell’s 1959 Family Tree painting.

Skimmilkskim shared a close-up photo of the artist’s signature in the bottom right corner of the screen.

They also shared an image of a hidden certificate of authenticity from an auction house, which accompanies the purchase.

This certificate stated that the painting had been signed in pencil by Rockwell.

Skimmilkskim also posted an image of the Goodwill price of $13.99 on the back of the frame.

Commenters on Reddit shared the savers’ excitement and said how much the art could be worth.

“Very cool! They cost a few hundred on eBay so you scored,” one person wrote.

“I’m so jealous, I’ve loved Norman Rockwell for over 40 years,” said another commenter.

I saved a bracelet for $15 – a jeweler told me its real value is much higher, I’ve never had jewelry that was worth that much

Other commenters pointed out a potential problem that the buyer missed.

Some Redditors shared their concerns about how the image’s color had faded over time.

“It’s very damaged by the sun. :-(”, said one person.

“Unfortunately, this is very faded,” wrote another Redditor.

The saver responded and shared why they weren’t too worried about it.

“Yes… but the signature!” they said.

“I would have loved it to still be vibrant.”

GOOD MEETING

High-value Goodwill finds may be rare, but The US Sun has reported other budget-friendly special buys.

One shopper purchased a dress worth hundreds for just $6.

She thanked the previous owner and attributed her designer discovery to the missing brand.

“God bless whoever cut the tag off this Tadashi dress,” she said.

The black dress was from the brand Tadashi which sells similar dresses for $600.

“I almost screamed when I Googled how much Tadashi dresses normally cost,” she wrote.
