CUSTOMERS who exceed the limits of Costco’s generous return policy may be banned from the store.

Costco’s 100% satisfaction guarantee allows customers to return almost any item at any time after purchasing it for a full refund.

Buyers got some questionable returns under the policy, including spoiled food and old appliances.

But some customers face consequences if the store thinks they are abusing the policy.

In a Reddit thread, Costco members discussed the possibility of being “blacklisted” from the store.

“I was in the return line and the associate and manager were telling the customer in front of me, “You cannot return this item. You have returned almost every purchase you have made. If you try to return another purchase, we will terminate your membership ” wrote one person.

Other Reddit users supported the store’s decision.

“This makes me happy. It’s buyers like these who ruin everything for the rest of us,” one person responded.

“I know someone who had their membership suspended for returning a 15-year-old TV,” wrote another person.

“Yes, my grandmother bought clothes in three sizes, tried them on at home and always returned most of them,” added a third person.

“Her crying didn’t sway them either, I was 15 and with her when they canceled her membership during her biggest comeback.

“They honored the return and refund, but then canceled it.”

My Costco membership was withdrawn under a little-known rule after returning an item I thought I could get back

There are several notices in the Costco membership agreement about canceling memberships.

“Costco reserves the right to refuse membership to any applicant, and membership may be terminated at Costco’s discretion and without cause,” the website states.

ATTENTION

Some Costco employees are kind enough to warn members before they face consequences for making too many returns.

A staff member notified a shopper that his account was being monitored after bringing in multiple electronics.

“I’m one of those who return often and don’t give a shit,” they wrote on a Reddit publish.

They had recently returned a three-year-old beard trimmer that was missing parts and a $150 electric toothbrush.

“Fast forward to today’s return. The lady said, ‘Take this as you will, but of the 20 things you purchased from my department, 12 were returned,'” they wrote.

“She was cool about it, basically warning me that someone might think this was superficial.

“I mean, I spent thousands there, but should I worry about them blocking my subscription?”

Costco Return Policy

What are the details of the famous return policy?

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

There are some exceptions to this 100% satisfaction guarantee, which are:

  • Electronics – Returns will be accepted within 90 days from the date the member received the product.
  • Diamonds – 1.00 ct or larger must be returned with all original documentation within 48 hours and will be inspected for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages – These items cannot be returned by law.
  • Items with a limited shelf life, such as batteries and tires, cannot be returned.
  • Special order kiosk and custom installed programs may only be returned or refunded if under warranty repair/replacement.
  • Gold bars, silver bars and coins are non-refundable.
  • Store Cards are non-refundable.
  • Airline items and live performance events are non-refundable.

Costco memberships can be canceled and refunded at any time if the customer is dissatisfied.

Fortunately, a fellow Costco shopper said there would be a minor consequence before being banned.

“It will get to the point where every return will require you to wait for a manager to come talk to you and approve or deny,” they responded.

“As long as you’re not an ad, you’ll just have to deal with it. If you become hostile, you will be banned and raided for at least a year.”

A Costco member had his membership revoked when he tried to return a printer after six years.

But another buyer said the rental policy is what makes them renew their subscription over and over again.
