A CUSTOMER has slammed Walmart after a negative shopping experience.

They claimed they were so upset with the retail giant’s performance that they “left a cart full of groceries” behind and walked away.

Former fan, Maggie, also threatened to take her business elsewhere, criticizing Walmart’s customer service, cashiers and overall cleanliness of her local store.

“@Walmart is so tired of being disrespected in their filthy, disorganized store,” Maggie wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, last month.

“I just left a cart full of shopping there – I left because the cashier was incredibly rude.”

“Fix your perpetually broken logging equipment and get some customer service training,” fumed the shopper.

Walmart Help responded quickly, requesting that Maggie contact them for further assistance in resolving the incident.

She denied the request and continued to complain about her grievances with Walmart operations.

In addition to calling the retailer’s employee culture “horrible,” again citing several allegedly rude interactions.

The customer also alleged that there were long lines and consistent wait times at self-checkout kiosks.

Maggie told Walmart she wouldn’t return, to which the brand again begged for more information and offered help.

“That’s not the service we want to provide, Maggie. Please message us when you have a moment, we would love to look into this further,” Walmart Help wrote.

Walmart’s Revolutionary Raise for Managers!

It’s unclear if the situation has been resolved, but Maggie is one of several shoppers who have voiced similar complaints about Walmart in recent months.

FAN FURY

At least two people also left their carts behind and fled their stores.

Another customer recently questioned the company during an interaction with a staff member while checking their receipts at self-checkout.

They claimed the employee was “harassing” them over the receipt after they correctly scanned and paid for the merchandise.

Latest self-checkout changes

Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed checkout times and reduce theft.

Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at several locations were made available only to Walmart+ members.

Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed at specific times and more cashiers were offered in its place.

While shoppers feared that shoplifting would fuel the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.

One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would thwart fiercely contested receipt checks.

However, this test has been discontinued.

At Target, items are being limited in auto-checkout.

Last fall, the brand researched new express self-checkout lanes in 200 stores with 10 items or less for added convenience.

In March 2024, this policy was expanded to 2,000 stores in the US.

“Can you train your staff to stop real thieves instead of harassing real paying customers?” they asked in a post on X.

Others have had issues with supposedly long self-checkout lines, as Maggie mentioned in her post.

CHECK CHAOS

A customer stated that their local Walmart in Canada only had one employee and a self-checkout open during their last shopping experience.

This caused a line of at least 25 people for the unique kiosk, they said.

The self-checkout issues may stem from a recent Walmart policy that caused some controversy among customers.

Walmart began setting aside self-checkout kiosks in some stores earlier this year, strictly for Walmart+ and Spark Drivers subscribers.

It also removed self-checkouts entirely from select locations.
