A COSTCO customer was criticized for making a questionable return that consisted of a branch.

An employee accused the Costco member of making an unfounded return, but still got his money back.

Costco is well known in retail for its bulk buying, food court deals, and in the world of Reddit – its lenient return policy.

The Costco subreddit is filled with endless examples of shoppers who have managed to get full refunds on ridiculous items.

This includes members who brazenly brought carts full of furniture, cut-up mattresses, and leftover bones and fat from meat back to the retailer.

Another such return was posted on the Costco subreddit after a user begged warehouse workers to share the worst returns they had witnessed.

A Costco supervisor chimed in and said that a few years ago, a member brought in a branch from a tree.

They specified that the member brought neither the vase nor the tree from which the branch came.

The supervisor suspected that the customer may have lied to Costco employees regarding the return.

“Honestly, for all I know, it could have been a twig they found coming into the store,” they wrote.

“My manager approved. $50 and the real tree is probably in that guy’s yard.”

MORE ABSURD RETURNS

While the member’s return was bizarre, it’s not the only time a Costco shopper bought something and brought it back to the warehouse dead.

One buyer repeatedly returned dead flowers to the retailer to get his money back.

On the Costco subreddit, a former worker explained how a lady brought back the bouquets of roses her husband bought because they didn’t last as long as she hoped.

“After six or seven times this happened, the front-end manager commented to her that she didn’t seem pleased with our roses and perhaps she wanted to consider a different florist,” the employee wrote.

They noticed that the lady refused to do what the manager suggested and instead called the company.

Costco Return Policy

What are the details of the famous return policy?

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

There are some exceptions to this 100% satisfaction guarantee, which are:

  • Electronics – Returns will be accepted within 90 days from the date the member received the product.
  • Diamonds – 1.00 ct or larger must be returned with all original documentation within 48 hours and will be inspected for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages – These items cannot be returned by law.
  • Items with a limited shelf life, such as batteries and tires, cannot be returned.
  • Special order kiosk and custom installed programs may only be returned or refunded if under warranty repair/replacement.
  • Gold bars, silver bars and coins are non-refundable.
  • Store Cards are non-refundable.
  • Airline and live performance event items are non-refundable.

Costco memberships can be canceled and refunded at any time if the customer is dissatisfied.

The Costco company then called the store and told them to continue accepting their flower returns “without conditions.”

Other shoppers were shocked by her behavior, accusing her of stealing from the retailer.

Many blamed his frugality for his actions.

“The lady was probably a cheapskate. The difference between people who are frugal and just plain cheap is stark,” said one Redditor.

“Scumbag is more like it,” corrected another.

In other Costco news, the retailer announced a major store expansion from June to August and teased more changes.

Additionally, a former Costco fan warned that joining brings a big problem that “the company can solve but chooses not to.”
