A SHOPPER has hit out at Walmart after a self-checkout debacle caused him to abandon his cart and walk away.
The frustrated customer alleged that his local store did not offer assistance to employees in purchasing groceries during a recent trip.
Only self-checkout kiosks were reportedly available, and they felt the retailer was forcing them to do work normally performed by employees.
“I went to Walmart to buy groceries, yeah, I don’t like that place either,” the furious customer, Roger, said in a Facebook post.
“When I went to check out, they said all we have is self check out.”
“I said I don’t work here,” he added.
Roger decided to take a stand against the self-checkout option and left his cart full of purchases in the aisle.
He then left and went to another place to buy goods.
“I left my cart, sat there in the middle of the register and left,” the customer wrote.
Roger is not alone in what appears to be a trend of some Walmart shoppers abandoning their shopping carts and leaving the store after negative experiences.
LET IT GO
Another customer, Maggie, came to the attention of the retail giant after an allegedly rude employee and broken self-checkout machine caused them to storm out without their items.
“I just left a cart FULL of shopping there – I left because the cashier was incredibly rude,” she wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“Fix your perpetually broken logging equipment and get some customer service training.”
In Maggie’s case, Walmart responded and promised to resolve the incident if she contacted them with more information.
IS SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED?
The changes to self-checkout at the retailer have been generating controversy among fans for some time.
Walmart has decided over the past few months to select select locations at certain self-checkout kiosks for Walmart+ and Spark Drivers subscribers for a more efficient experience.

While well-intentioned, several shoppers argued that this caused longer lines and effectively forced them to pay the $98 annual fee for Walmart+ to use self-checkout.
Walmart denied this claim.
In Roger’s case, few Walmart stores only offer self-checkout options.
Several, however, decided to do the opposite and remove all of their kiosks.
Walmart also recently settled a $45 million lawsuit that called for $500 payments to eligible customers.
Many shoppers should also pay attention to price changes to Walmart’s seven-day summer services, which they can take advantage of if they meet certain criteria.
