A COSTCO member shared her complaints about Costco’s new rotisserie chicken packaging.

The membership club switched from plastic trays to bags in March, much to the disappointment of many shoppers.

The Reddit forum r/Costco is an unofficial space for Costco shoppers to vent their frustrations with the membership club.

Since Costco introduced new plastic bag packaging for its popular Kirkland rotisserie chickens, many customers have been less satisfied with the product.

A buyer recently started a thread to say that the bag leaked and caused a mess in the car.

“Chicken juice spilled in the trunk of our car,” they wrote, sharing a photo of their grill.

“These new bags leak!”

They asked their fellow Redditors: “Has anyone else had this problem before?”

“I recently caught two chickens in the bag for the first time,” one of them replied.

“I hated everything about it.”

“The bags were slippery with juice in the display… putting them on the conveyor belt to check out also contained chicken fat.”

Another said: ‘I’d rather pay a penny more for the old packaging.”

Costco evergreen crazy returns

A SOLUTION

Some shoppers revealed they have started wrapping their roast chickens in the plastic bags used to wrap raw meat packaging.

“The grill section at our Costco is next to the meat section, so there’s a bag dispenser about 10 feet away so you can put your chicken in one of those bags,” one said.

Another revealed a different problem with the new packaging.

“For me, it is a shame to cut pieces of chicken inside the bag,” they wrote.

Costco Return Policy

What are the details of the famous return policy?

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

There are some exceptions to this 100% satisfaction guarantee, which are:

  • Electronics – Returns will be accepted within 90 days from the date the member received the product.
  • Diamonds – 1.00 ct or larger must be returned with all original documentation within 48 hours and will be inspected for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages – These items cannot be returned by law.
  • Items with a limited shelf life, such as batteries and tires, cannot be returned.
  • Special order kiosk and custom installed programs may only be returned or refunded if under warranty repair/replacement.
  • Gold bars, silver bars and coins are non-refundable.
  • Store Cards are non-refundable.
  • Airline items and live performance events are non-refundable.

Costco memberships can be canceled and refunded at any time if the customer is dissatisfied.

“We don’t eat it all at once.”

One benefit of the new packaging is that it uses less plastic and is therefore more environmentally friendly.

Thanks to the handle on the top, some buyers find that it also makes transporting the chicken easier.

Although plastic bags are new to the U.S., Costco shoppers in Canada have had them for several years.

Here’s why a Costco member is canceling and switching to Sam’s Club.

And if you lose an item in the parking lot, do what one shopper did and get a free replacement.
