Shoppers spotted the handleless bags at select locations.

“First Aldi took away the plastic bags… now they only have paper bags without handles,” complained one customer on X, formerly Twitter.

“Please be honest! You guys are annoying as hell.”

Another customer was shocked that they hadn’t heard about the change before seeing the new bags in stores.

“So why don’t you tell people that Aldi doesn’t have paper bags with handles?” they he wrote.

“Aldi, what’s going on?”

One shopper questioned why the bag cost 12 cents in his store despite being smaller.

“This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. What’s the point of that?” they wrote.

Another customer called the trash bags.

“So AldiUSA paper bags are more expensive, they no longer have handles, they’ve gotten smaller and they break more easily?” asked one shopper in an X post.

How to get the best deals at Aldi

“The math isn’t adding up.”

Aldi began phasing out plastic bags in 2022 with the aim of eliminating them by the end of 2023.

OVER IT

An Aldi shopper has vowed to boycott the store after a bad interaction with self-checkout.

In a post on X, she explained that she made a big profit and asked an employee to open a cash register so she didn’t have to use self-checkout.

“I had to scan the entire store at a stupid self-service checkout. I will never go back to Didcot Aldi again,” they wrote.

“It was ridiculous that purchases kept falling off the scale.”

Plastic bag bans

Bans on plastic bags and single-use plastic have begun to emerge across the country.

12 states have enacted bans:

  • California
  • Hawaii
  • new York
  • washington
  • Connecticut
  • Maine
  • Oregon
  • Delaware
  • New Jersey
  • Vermont

Aldi cashiers are known for being extremely fast and customers can’t match their speed.

“Aldi cashiers were very fast as they didn’t pack their bags and were very efficient in allocating cashier staff,” wrote another customer.

“This is a bad move,” they added, referring to the installation of self-checkout registers at your local Aldi.

Aldi fans have also complained about the 25p trolley policy, but the store says it saves customers money.

A customer branded the store deplorable after it cut a popular sauce.
