A DELIVERY change has arrived for a beloved sports retailer, but only certain shoppers can benefit.

The adjustment comes as the network prepares for families’ back-to-school needs at the end of August.

Through an exclusive partnership with DoorDash, Academy Sports + Outdoors, also called “Academy,” will offer on-demand delivery to select customers this summer for a Press release on Monday.

Academy merchandise at its 285 stores in 19 states can be ordered by anyone who has the DoorDash mobile app.

Items are delivered the same day in less than an hour on average, according to data collected by the two companies.

Chad Fox, executive vice president and chief customer officer at Academy Sports + Outdoors, emphasized that the partnership was a move with customers’ activities in mind.

He said the retailer is “continuously looking for ways to help our customers have fun faster.”

“We believe this partnership with DoorDash is a new option for getting the equipment they need,” Fox noted in the release.

“We’re excited to partner with the leading local commerce platform to give our customers another convenient way to quickly get the products they need so they can have fun.”

Shoppers near a gym should be able to see the retailer on the DoorDash app starting this week.

SUBSCRIBER BONUS

Those who have DashPass – DoorDash’s membership program – can get additional benefits by ordering from the sports retailer.

DashPass offers customers a $0 delivery fee on all orders and reduced service fees.

DashPass membership costs

DashPass is DoorDash’s membership program. Customers who have an account with the online food ordering company can upgrade to get benefits including free delivery on orders over $15. Service fees and other discounts may also apply.

The following groups are eligible for a discount on the $9.99 monthly DashPass fee.

  • Verified Students ($4.99/month)
  • Amazon Prime Members (free for 12-month trial)
  • Dashers who work for DoorDash (1 month free then $4.99)
  • Chase Card Members (3-month trial, $4.99 for next 9 months and full price)

The e-commerce giant confirmed that Amazon Prime members would be eligible for a free GrubHub+ subscription as long as they have an active account.

A 12-month trial was initially offered to Prime members in July 2022, but the two companies decided to make the offer permanent at the end of May.

“GrubHub is a fantastic compliment to Amazon Prime,” said Amazon Prime Worldwide Vice President Jamil Ghani. USA today.

Other services have made different updates in recent months.

Uber Eats outlined plans to add a TikTok-like feature to its app in April, but fans were worried it would come at a cost.

Another customer was angered by an alleged $20 surcharge on a meal he ordered from the brand.
