A LOWE’S customer has vowed to permanently boycott the store over its frustrating returns policy.

They think competitor Home Depot offers better customer service.

Lowe’s fans are reacting to the store’s new return policy, which requires customers to store their receipts in certain locations.

While other stores look up customers’ purchases using their phone number, Lowe’s requires customers to present their physical receipt.

A contractor in Reddit wrote: “The phone number never worked in the 150 times I tried and what is most frustrating is that the ink on the receipts disappears if the air humidity is greater than 30%!

“Much less if you put it in your pocket during a hot day and sweat because it’s hot, the ink has run out!”

The customer said he would like to be able to buy from a rival store.

“It’s beyond frustrating,” the rant continued.

“I spend tens of thousands of dollars at Lowe’s every few months, and unfortunately there are no other competitors within 40 miles.

“Home Depot is coming and they’re going to put Lowe’s out of business and I can’t wait!”

Another agreed: “Lowe’s new return policy is rubbish.”

A third suggested using a credit card, explaining: “Then you don’t need a receipt because you just swipe the card to find the transaction!”

MORE LOWE NEWS

Lowe’s customers who prefer to have their items delivered to them now have more options than ever before.

DoorDash is offering on-demand delivery at 1,700 Lowe’s stores all over the country.

It is the first building materials retailer to join the app.

Purchases can be made entirely through the DoorDash app and even added to “double-dash” trips, where drivers pick up merchandise at other stores en route.

What is Home Depot’s return policy?

Lowe’s rival Home Depot has the following return policy

Most merchandise can be returned within 90 days with proof of purchase to The Home Depot.

Home Depot reserves the right to refuse returns when a product does not have a manufacturing defect but has been damaged by the customer, or to prevent fraud or abuse.

Customers are encouraged to bring their receipts, but a driver’s license or government-issued photo ID can be used to validate unreceived returns.

Returns made without proof or valid purchase may be refunded as Store Credit at the lowest advertised price.

REMAIN LOYAL?

In March, Lowe’s revealed it would join Home Depot and added an extra incentive to its loyalty program.

Coined MyLowe’s Rewards, the hardware retailer has launched a credit card, offering rewards on certain purchases.

Although joining the program is free, obtaining a credit card requires approval, like most.

MyLowe’s Rewards is a free loyalty program that allows members to earn points for MyLowe’s Money.
