In Quincy, Massachusetts, a permanently closed iHOP building is about to be demolished.

The restaurant closed permanently last month.

It was one of the few pancake houses in the greater Boston area.

However, local residents have now learned that the building will be replaced by a new development that includes a 300-unit residential building and a Trader Joe’s.

iHop received $1.2 million from the city, which forced the company to give up its lease early to open a new restaurant across the street.

Competition dates for the new iHop and Trader Joe’s locations have not yet been confirmed.

However, fans of both companies shared their excitement over the change in social media.

“The IHOP in Quincy will be reborn in a new space nearby,” one wrote on X.

“That is great!” said another in Reddit.

“I was a little upset about IHOP closing, but this is a positive change,” one agreed.

Another resident wrote: “More housing and more grocery options are fantastic.”
