An HP customer says his printer was disabled after he canceled his Instant Ink free trial.

HP Instant Ink is a monthly subscription service that automatically delivers ink or toner cartridges to your door when your printer is running low.

An HP customer was unable to use their printer after canceling their Instant Ink subscription

The customer took Reddit to share your problems after purchasing an HP printer.

“I recently purchased an HP Laserjet and took the Instant Ink 3-month trial,” the post began.

“When speaking with an HP representative on the phone, they told me that when I finish the trial, I can simply ‘not renew’ it and can keep any ‘free ink’ I received during the trial.”

However, this customer’s experience would not be simple at all.

“Fast forward a few months and my printer suddenly stops working,” the post continued.

“I call, spend an hour video chatting with them, and am told that the printer cannot be repaired, but it is still under warranty for over a year, so they can send me a ‘brand new printer.’

Instead of a brand new printer, the customer received a refurbished printer.

And that was far from the end of their problems.

“The problem is that this printer didn’t work either”, they revealed.

“The representative told me that the entire printer was disabled because my Instant Ink account was suspended and I would have to transfer it to them to fix the problem.

“Remember I don’t owe them any money, I just didn’t continue after the test, but they remotely blocked my printer because I didn’t continue the test.”

“I ask the representative what I should do with this almost full paint. She responds, ‘You can just throw it in the trash.'”

The customer warned: “Don’t buy HP, they are a horrible company with horrible policies.”

US Sun has reached out to HP for comment.

Keep in mind I don’t owe them any money, I just didn’t continue after the test, but they remotely locked my printer because I didn’t continue the test.

HP Instant Ink is a monthly subscription service that automatically delivers ink or toner cartridges to your door.

Plans start at $1.49 per month and are based on printing frequency rather than the amount of ink used.
