Three portable chargers models by myCharge that were sold exclusively at Costco are being recalled.

This comes after two house fires were blamed on overheating units.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has ordered the recall of the following myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One 10,000mAh models on June 20:

  • AO10FK-A
  • AO10FK-B
  • AO10FK-C

The commission said in a statement: “The portable chargers are black and include two attached cables for charging portable electronic devices and retractable wall prongs for recharging the power bank. ‘myCharge’ is printed on the front surface along the long edge. The model number is printed on the back.”

Recalled product date codes end in 21 or 22, “or are one of the following four date codes ending in 23: 0123, 0923, 1523, or 1723.”

Costco sold approximately 567,000 chargers affected by this recall.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the products were recalled due to the risk of overheating and burning.

The commission received 120 reports of portable chargers overheating.

The products were blamed for a total of $165,000 in reported property damage, including two house fires.

Meanwhile, Costco reported 115 myCharge charger returns with customers “mentioning melting, expanding, smokefire, burning, explosion or spark.”

However, no one was injured as a result of the products.

However, consumers are furious that potentially dangerous products were sold at one of the country’s biggest retailers.

What are the details of the famous return policy?

“We guarantee your satisfaction with every product we sell and will refund the purchase price,” said the return policy States.

There are some exceptions to this 100% satisfaction guarantee, which are:

  • Diamonds – 1.00 ct or larger must be returned with all original documentation within 48 hours and will be inspected for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcoholic beverages – These items cannot be returned by law.
  • Items with a limited shelf life, such as batteries and tires, cannot be returned.
  • Special order kiosk and custom installed programs may only be returned or refunded if under warranty repair/replacement.
  • Gold bars, silver bars and coins are non-refundable.
  • Store Cards are non-refundable.
  • Airline and live performance event items are non-refundable.

Costco memberships can be canceled and refunded at any time if the customer is dissatisfied.

“I don’t go to Costco, but I believe people are excited about their $1.50 hot dogs and not the electronics,” wrote one in X.

“Man this is a shame,” said another on Reddit.

“We have units included in the recall and they are very convenient to use while traveling.”

“We all use a lot of electronics and we need to be aware of their use,” warned a third.

Meanwhile, Costco members are celebrating the opening of a new type of store with shorter lines.

But other members are suing the company, accusing it of cheating with its online prices.
