A WALMART shopper called on the retailer to make a change to the way customers pay.

This customer said consumers shouldn’t be forced to download an app if they want to pay a certain way.

Bryan Bowman complained about Walmart because it doesn’t allow tap payment.

This means shoppers can’t use their wireless cards or phones to pay in store.

Instead, people can download the Walmart app and use Walmart Pay as a touchless option.

Walmart Pay works in a similar way to Apple Pay in that it saves credit, debit cards, and gift cards in the app for shoppers to use.

Bowman shared his frustration with this method on an X, formerly Twitter, publish.

@Walmart get with the times and start enabling tap to pay or Apple Pay/Google Pay,” he said.

“No one wants to use your app when we already have it on our phones.”

Bowman wasn’t the only Walmart shopper to share her disappointment about this.

Another customer said he took drastic action when he realized Walmart wouldn’t accept payments from Apple or Google, The US Sun previously reported.

This visitor said he abandoned his cart and left the store because of this.

“I had to leave my stroller, go to my car and get my wallet,” they wrote.

“I wish I had checks for shits and giggles. Let’s go @walmart.”

The buyer added that it would instead switch to one of Walmart’s main rivals.

“I’m not going to download another app to pay in line! @Target Team.”

CEO TALK

The network’s CEO, Doug McMillion, explained why the company applied this rule.

“We would like customers to open our app in store all the time,” said McMillion Strategy.

“I used it and I know our stores as well as anyone, but I couldn’t find Command Hooks the other day, I used our app and it took me straight to Command Hooks, I was grateful,” he added.

“You can use it to do all kinds of things, and we’ll keep adding use cases for it.”

Payment methods haven’t been the only topic of controversy at Walmart checkout counters, The US Sun previously reported.

One location canceled all of its self-checkouts due to theft.
