COSTCO fans are outraged by the major retailer’s new food court rule.

Certain shoppers may not be able to score a $1.50 hot dog and soda combo or other cheap treats and are not happy about it.

The days of buying an 18-inch pizza for $9.95 or a 20-ounce soda for just 69 cents are over for non-Costco members.

Costco is reportedly cracking down on shoppers’ membership status, now requiring a membership card to shop at the food court.

For those who have reaped the benefits of Costco’s low prices without paying membership fees, the change is disappointing.

Many Costco food court fans shared their disappointment with the X.

“Really, Costco is getting more and more stupid, so I can’t go to the food court without a membership or buying a gift card. It’s bad enough that the people who shop there are stupid and the employees are rude and idiots,” wrote one angry shopper.

“Costco must be stupid because they lose sales that way. Alright, I hope [they] go out of business.”

Many others were equally upset by Costco’s move.

“Is Costco getting mean to non-members? Your mom is checking out, you’re waiting in the food court with the pizza and hot dogs, you’re not a member, she is,” another X user commented.

REPRESSION OF THE FOOD COURT

Apparently it varies by location whether or not non-membership shoppers can shop at Costco food courts.

However, the retailer has started to crack down on the rule in some warehouses.

Warehouse Wars: Shoppers Weigh Sam’s Club vs. Costco

About a month ago, shoppers spotted a sign at a Costco in Orlando warning them that membership would soon be required to purchase items from the food court.

A shopper shared a photo of the sign on the r/Costco subreddit, which read: “Starting April 8, 2024, an active Costco membership card will be required to purchase items in our food court.

“You can join today. See our member counter for details.”

Redditors in the comments section noted that a Costco membership was always required to purchase items at the food court, but the policy was not promptly implemented.

“I’m pretty sure it was mandatory, but it wasn’t mandatory before,” one person said.

Other thread participants claimed that only Costcos with outdoor food courts required membership.

“We needed a card to buy food on the Big Island of Hawaii, but I thought it was because it was outside,” says one comment.

“Yes, that was the reason. Costcos with outdoor food courts required membership, indoor courts did not,” another person responded.

A Costco shopper in New Orleans commented that the policy was not enforced at the outdoor food court, but another customer responded by saying that an advertisement like the one in Orlando was recently placed there.

“They just put up signs saying membership will now be mandatory. Just like the ones in Orlando pictured here.”

In other Costco news, shoppers were shocked when a customer returned “half-eaten” food held together by rubber bands.
