A TARGET customer has warned other shoppers to double-check their receipts after allegedly being overcharged on four separate occasions.
The frustrated shopper claimed he only detected the most recent case where an item’s price and receipt did not match an in-store sale sign.
“Just FYI, if you shop at Target Windward Mall,” they wrote in a publish to Facebook earlier this month.
Windward Mall is a shopping center located in Kaneohe, Hawaii, about 25 miles northeast of Honolulu.
“Check your receipts or pay attention to the screen when checking out,” the shopper advised.
They continued to claim during a recent trip that they noticed the fourth and most recent overcharge after arriving home with their merchandise.
Using the Fetch Rewards app, which rewards shoppers with gift cards and other perks for taking photos of their receipts, the Kaneohe resident said he quickly noticed the discrepancy.
The anonymous Target shopper also claimed they spoke to a cashier at self-checkout after the incident, who told them “next time, take a photo of the sign to show proof.”
They were confused about how this made sense and promised to speak to a manager soon about the alleged overcharge.
It’s unclear whether the customer ever spoke to a manager or whether the situation was ultimately resolved.
FINES PAID
Target faced backlash earlier this year after authorities found several instances of overcharging at select stores in California.
Data collected from 2023 and 2024 by inspectors from the Marion County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures showed the price discrepancies, for SFGate.
Some Target stores in the Bay Area also failed follow-up inspections.
A Target location in North Carolina also paid state officials more than $14,755 in fines last year for at least seven failed price inspections, Charlotte NBC affiliate WCNC reported.
Fans were furious with the reports from California and North Carolina.
“Shame on Target,” shouted one customer in a Facebook post.

RETAIL Fury
