STARBUCKS starts serving three new lemonades tomorrow, April 16, with a spicy twist.
Baristas add chili powder as per customers’ requests, but some are worried about getting an upset stomach.
Starbucks will start serving three Refreshing spicy lemonade on April 16th.
The iced drinks will make their debut in three tropical flavors – Spicy Dragonfruit, Spicy Pineapple and Spicy Strawberry.
Combining the sweetness of the popular Refreshers line, the tang of lemonade and the heat of Starbucks’ spicy chili powder mix, the drinks are likely to be a hit.
The drinks were inspired by the “swicy” trend in social mediawhich saw fans combine sweet and spicy flavors in creative ways.

The three flavors offered include:
- sspicy dragon fruit – combining the sweetness of mango and exotic fruit shaken with ice, real pieces of dragon fruit, tangy lemonade and spicy chili powder
- Spicy Pineapple – with pineapple and passion fruit flavors shaken over ice, real pineapple chunks, tangy lemonade and that spicy chili powder mix
- Spicy Strawberry – bringing together the sweet flavors of strawberry and açaí, shaken with ice, pieces of real strawberry, spicy lemonade, chili powder mix
Starting April 16, guests will also be able to order the new Spicy Cream Cold Foam, which combines Starbucks’ classic cold foam with spicy chili powder blend.
Starbucks baristas shared their thoughts on the new drinks in Reddit.
“I can’t wait to ask customers, ‘And how spicy would you like this lemonade?’” one wrote.
“We can add spoonfuls of chili to anything, according to my manager,” they added.
Another shared: “I’m in South Texas. I can’t wait for these, I think they will be popular here.”
“I personally love the spicy mango and dragon fruit lemonade,” said a third barista.
However, customers are a little more skeptical about new creations.
“Talk about heartburn and acid reflux,” wrote one in Facebook.
Another said: “Hard pass, I don’t make it spicy.”
Others were worried that the drinks would give them an upset stomach.
“Starbucks Spicy Powder Will Ruin Your Guts,” One Predicted X.
“For some reason, the spicy chili powder makes my stomach hurt,” said another on Reddit.
Spicy Lemonade Refreshers are a limited-time item that will only be available while supplies last.
