CITY authorities were tipped off by Kroger as to why a local store was closing at different times on different days.

The Kroger location in Louisville, Kentucky is expected to be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

But buyers say that’s not the case.

The West Broadway location closed early on random days, leaving shoppers without a chance to buy groceries.

Since the community is considered a food desert, Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins investigated the matter further.

Kroger management told her the store would stay open until 9 p.m. if people stopped stealing.

“O [loss] the prevention data is off the table,” Hawkins told the local news outlet WDRB.

“We’re going to need the community and the people who come to this store to try not to take anything away from this store.

“Today, we have several community members and programs that will provide access to food, so please, I am begging you to be here; We can’t come in here and rob this Kroger.”

Kroger apologized for the issue but did not respond to the news outlet’s question about whether the store was closing permanently.

“We apologize for an oversight in service. We apologize to our team for welcoming customers with open doors until 9 p.m. each night,” a Kroger spokesperson said in a statement.

The US Sun reached out to Kroger for more information on the matter.

ANGRY CUSTOMERS

Shoppers told outlet store employees that they don’t clean and don’t care about service.

“It’s the worst Kroger,” said neighbor Kelvin Alcon.

“They don’t clean, they don’t care.”

The neighbor Miss. Caldwell lives just a few blocks from the store and has to go back and forth whenever she needs something.

She said the store has closed early on random days in recent months.

If she arrives and it’s not open, she goes home empty-handed and must wait until the next day to get what she needs.

She started going in the middle of the day to avoid being outside.

Kroger is just one of two supermarkets in the area.

The company has not made any statement about the location’s closure, but The US Sun reached out for more information.

A shopper called Kroger after the store’s coupon was rejected.

And the company’s CEO said buyers will soon see lower prices after a $500 million investment.
