A WALMART shopper is left baffled after making a purchase at the retailer.
The customer shared his shock at purchasing a small number of items for $49 on social media.
A trip to Walmart seems to be getting more expensive these days and the customer experience itself reflects this.
“This cost $49… FORTY-NINE F*****G DOLLARS???! Are you guys okay? We can’t keep living like this…” user CurtiMagurtti tweeted.
Along with the tweet, the user also posted a photo of the receipt, showing the total of $49.49 for just four items.
CurtiMagurtti’s purchases on their trip to the supermarket included, along with the prices they paid:
- A pack of four Colgate 360º toothbrushes – $13.96
- Guru Nanda Oil Extracting Oral Rinse – $9.98
- Guru Nanda Oxyburst Technology Mouthwash – $12.79
- Guru Nanda Original Concentrated Mouthwash – $8.78
This all added up to a subtotal of $45.51, along with an added 8.76% $3.98 sales tax.
‘THE LOCAL DOLLAR TREE’
Anyone who saw this post was equally shocked by the amount spent on just four items at Walmart.
Some even reacted to the post.
“Naaah, that Guru brand is in the local dollar tree!!” A person he wrote. “I would have gone to the dollar tree before Walmart haha.”
“Chile, if you had added a deodorant, it would be sixty,” another tweeted.
“I get a lot of coupons because this is ridiculous,” another he responded. “I feel like an old woman saying this, my God.”
“What kills me is that these same items are about $8-10 less at Sams, but you’ll get a 16-pack of toothbrushes and two packs of everything else,” to respondd a bedroom.
PRICE INCREASES
Other Walmart shoppers are on the same page as CurtiMagurtti, as many have criticized price increases on essential items.

The huge impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy has significantly disrupted the retail sector, leading to rising prices.
Even retail giants like Walmart have struggled to keep prices low while keeping their store operations running smoothly until 2024.
Despite your efforts, many products, including breakfast essentials, remain expensive.
Jennifer, a regular Walmart shopper, experienced the drastic price increase firsthand.
She and her husband reminisced about the days when they could buy four 12-packs of drinks for $10.
Curious, Jennifer checked her Walmart mobile app for past orders and discovered a 2020 purchase of 30 items, including several cereals, for a total of $70.29.
When she tried to reorder the same items, she was shocked to see a much higher total: $165.42.
“We cannot continue living like this. I can’t be the only one who feels this way,” Jennifer said.
Meanwhile, in February, an upset customer criticized the chain for an alleged 18% price increase over a two-week period.
And Aldi has revealed its “budget” products to help customers with summer activities.
