Rainy Smith posted in the Interlachen, Florida Facebook group and asked other shoppers to check their receipts after ordering from the store.

“Please look at your bank statement after receiving your order,” she wrote.

She posted a print Screen of your total, including six eight-packs of frozen burritos priced at $9.99 each.

She returned the items to the delivery man after showing the receipt and saying it was not the correct item.

“When I called Kroger about the situation, they refused to listen to me or refund me,” she added.

Kroger told her they found no problems with the order.

Smith said she was shocked by the excessive charges because she uses the service frequently.

“Keep an eye out because if you are overcharged it will be hell to get your money back,” she wrote.

In the comments, a buyer said the problem may have been caused by the app’s “allow substitutions” option.

“When you click ‘allow substitutions,’ it will replace them with whatever is closest to that product, and you will have to pay the price of the substitutions,” they wrote.

My $89 order cost $183,” cries Kroger shopper whose card was charged twice – store’s strict policy left him in the red

Smith may have wanted individual frozen burritos, but if she had substitutions allowed, the buyer could have given her the eight-packs.

But she had already decided never to return to Kroger again.

“After talking to several people yesterday, being the target of confusion, and being told that I have not been charged even though I have been, I have had enough,” Smith wrote.

“It’s very stressful. I’d rather pay someone to take me to Winn Dixie.

DOUBLE DELIVERY

In 2023, Kroger buyer Jill McCormick placed a typical grocery order totaling $282.

She realized that she hadn’t received notification about the order for some time and decided to check the progress.

Her heart stopped when she saw that the order had been marked as delivered and that she had been charged $2,783.25.

Not only that, but the order was never delivered.

What to do if you are overwhelmed

If you’re overcharged at a retailer, there are a few ways you can get your money back.

If you notice that you have been charged more than the advertised or published price, inform an employee or manager.

Be sure to keep your receipt to show the price difference.

As a buyer, you are entitled to the lowest advertised, published or quoted price offered by the store.

If you are charged more than the advertised, posted or quoted price, inform the seller immediately. If the seller cannot help, speak to the manager.

Stores must honor the published price, even if the price has expired.

You can also dispute charges with your bank if you notice something suspicious on your statement.

According to Los Angeles County Consumer and Business Affairs

“After trying for an hour, trying to contact someone, they were finally able to contact Instacart to cancel the order because they never canceled the order like the buyer originally told me,” she said. WCPO.

Kroger initially offered her a $20 gift card to make things right, but that amount was later increased to $250.

Money is important to McCormick, but she hopes something more comes from this experience.

“I’m looking for a solution and a result. How about we show results so that someone else, another family, doesn’t go through this,” she said.

Kroger said it finally expedited the refund and apologized for the overcharge.

A third customer was overcharged $280 and said the grocer “didn’t care” about getting a refund.

Another customer said they would never shop at Kroger again after waiting 10 days for a refund.
