WALMART shoppers say they’re tired of waiting in long self-checkout lines.

Ashley Nicole of Nashville, Tennessee, was shopping at Walmart on Friday when the self-checkout lines were impossibly long.

“Walmart Line[s] they are ridiculous!!!!,” wrote the mother of one X. “They literally only have two cashiers! Self-checkout lines are long lines. It’s so annoying.”

Her post caught the attention of Walmart’s help page, which asked her to “DM us, we want to know more about this here.”

It’s unclear whether Nicole accompanied the mega-grocery store. US Sun has reached out for comment.

The clothing brand owner isn’t the only one who is fed up with Walmart’s self-checkout.

Many customers have expressed their outrage over long lines at the grocery store, especially as some locations have begun implementing a new system that saves some self-checkout records for Walmart+ customers.

Others are complaining that their local store only has a few records open, causing massive backups for customers.

“I had three items and they only had one of the two self-checkout areas open,” said one customer in a Facebook post last month.

“And the one that was open only had five of the ten stations open, so there was a line of ten to twelve people waiting to use them. And they had three people monitoring the self-checkout stations.”

He said he visited the store on a Saturday and each line was “8 to 10 deep.”

A shopper in Missouri complained last month that his local store is forcing customers to use self-checkout.

“They pay 4 to 6 people to watch the cameras and clues instead of putting them in drawers. Ridiculous,” he wrote on X.

Many complained about the members-only checkouts and considered them “payment for the privilege of being your own cashier and bagger.”

Subscription costs $98 per year or $12.95 per month.

One of the biggest complaints is the implementation of receipt verification at the end of the customer’s visit, similar to what happens at its membership club, Sam’s Club.

Many customers refuse to offer their receipts and say they feel like a suspect in theft when they leave the store.

“There is no law that requires a person to show a receipt,” wrote one dissatisfied customer on X. “I tell them to call the police, I will wait.”

Unlike membership clubs — like Sam’s Club and Costco — Walmart customers don’t sign contracts to shop there and are therefore not required to present receipts to leave.

Attorney Alex Colangelo said The Toronto Star in 2023, that store security and loss prevention officers are “normal people” and have “limited powers” to arrest people for refusing to show their receipts.

“There is no power or authority to stop you if you say no,” he told the outlet.

However, some states – such as New York and California – have Retailer’s Privilege, which allows stores to confront customers who they think are stealing.
