He joined the chorus of complaints against the company’s new technology.

Facebook user John vented that he left the store even after completing his shopping, thanks to an understaffed store.

He is part of a group of shoppers who refuse to use self-checkout machines.

The company has increasingly used employees to oversee self-checkouts, putting pressure on employees working in regular checkout lines.

While it’s unclear whether this is what happened to John, his frustrations are echoed by others.

THE POST

John shared his experience in response to a news story about self-checkouts.

“I went to Wal-Mart one day and I had $45 or $50 worth of groceries in my cart,” he said. “Get to the checkout lines and there was NOT a living person working ANY of these.”

Particularly during slower times of the day, stores sometimes rely on self-checkout instead of employees.

This leaves some who prefer to be checked by a store employee disappointed.

John is one of those buyers.

“I left my cart AND shopping in lane 2 and went to another store,” he said.

‘What a joke,’ angers Walmart shopper when common payment method fails at three checkouts, vows ‘I’ll never shop there again’

“I WILL NOT use self checkouts!!!!”

It’s unclear which store he went to.

CHECK CHANGES

In an effort to prevent theft, Walmart has begun reducing the use of self-checkout machines.

The company began removing them from some stores last year.

In other stores, they are limiting the use of self-checkout.

Some places have reserved machines just for Walmart+ members.

This has caused outrage among some buyers who want to use the lanes without paying a $98 annual fee.

Others criticized the company’s decision to limit some self-checkouts to customers with 15 items or fewer.

This followed a similar move by Target.

Dollar General is removing self-checkout lanes at thousands of stores.

A new “sensory” change at Walmart has some vowing to shop there for the rest of their lives.

Why doesn’t Walmart offer Apple Pay?

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon revealed why stores don’t offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.

While the retailer’s use of Apple Pay has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that “we would like customers to open our app in store all the time.”

The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.

“That’s one of the things we’d like people to use our app for,” he said.
