‘I’ve Officially Lost My Main Stop Shopping Business,’ Target Shopper Blasts After New Checkout Process Is ‘Ridiculous’

A TARGET shopper focused on the store’s checkout processes in a social media complaint.

The customer said she wouldn’t shop there as regularly thanks to a new store policy.

Target has begun limiting self-checkout to shoppers with ten or fewer items.

The move was praised by some but met with scorn by others.

On X, user Chrissie said she was changing her shopping habits with the move.

Chrissie tagged Target in an X post.

“I just wanted to let you know that you officially lost my main shopping stop business when you changed self-checkout to 10 items or less,” she said.

“I’ve been using self-checkout exclusively for 4 years and it’s ridiculous,” he added.

Target responded to the post, defending its move.

“We implemented Express Self-Checkout for transactions with 10 items or less to create a faster checkout experience,” the company said in response.

“And so our qualified team members can support our guests in larger transactions,” he added.

“We will definitely share your comments,” he added.

It’s unclear where Chrissie’s store is located.

TARGET PROBLEMS

Chrissie isn’t the only one talking about the change.

One customer said “everything” Target did is “wrong” after the change.

Another Target shopper said he was considering “switching allegiance” regarding the new checkout process.

However, they may not like Walmart’s local self-checkout much more.

While Target implemented the change, some Walmart shoppers requested the same policy be implemented there.

It didn’t take long for them to get what they wanted — Walmart is now limiting some self-checkouts to people with 15 items or less.

This caused new frustrations for buyers.

A Walmart shopper abandoned his entire shopping cart in the self-checkout lines.

The company closed some of its lanes to Walmart+ members only.
