A KROGER customer paid significantly more for his merchandise than he should have during a recent store visit.

The eagle-eyed shopper noticed discrepancies on their receipt after checking out, which resulted in an additional 10% charge.

“Who needs coupons when you have sharp eyes?” asked Kroger customer Kylen Ray in a publish to Facebook in June.

They found at least four items on her receipt that cost slightly more than the store’s advertised price.

“I saw four items on my Kroger receipt that were overcharged, including some ‘organic’ chicken,” Kylen said.

“Check your receipts, guys!”

Kylen continued to detail the alleged overcharges and included screenshots of her receipts that verified her claims.

Accumulate

The chicken was advertised as $4.99, but Kylen paid $5.99.

They also bought grapes that cost a pound more, three 99-cent mangoes that traded for $5, and mini potatoes that cost $5 that should have cost $3.50.

Kylen recalled that after adding the charges, they quickly discovered they overpaid 10% on the bill.

“I was stunned to be overcharged by 10%,” they wrote.

“My total was $101 and the extra charges totaled over $10!”

“I heard rumors that stores were doing this, so glad I checked it out for the first time,” the Kroger shopper added.

The receipts showed that Kylen got a refund from Kroger of at least $10.21, resolving the issue.

Kroger customers aren’t the only consumers who have found costs on their receipts that don’t match their purchases.

A Walmart shopper recently provided a receipt showing about $70 in additional charges.

What to do if you are overwhelmed

If you’re overcharged at a retailer, there are a few ways you can get your money back.

If you notice that you have been charged more than the advertised or published price, inform an employee or manager.

Be sure to keep your receipt to show the price difference.

As a buyer, you are entitled to the lowest advertised, published or quoted price offered by the store.

If you are charged more than the advertised, posted or quoted price, inform the seller immediately. If the seller cannot help, speak to the manager.

Stores must honor the published price, even if the price has expired.

You can also dispute charges with your bank if you notice something suspicious on your statement.

According to Los Angeles County Consumer and Business Affairs

GIVE IT BACK

When using a self-service kiosk, they noticed that the total displayed on the screen for their items was significantly higher than expected and printed a receipt after paying to verify everything.

That’s when they noticed at least 13 charges for merchandise they didn’t even have in their cart, including watermelon and a 12-pack of Monster energy drinks.

The “mysteriously added” merchandise was later removed after the Walmart buyer got help from customer service and was refunded the full amount.

Still, they claimed “no explanation as to why or how this could have happened.”

Another Walmart customer recently claimed he was overcharged for double the amount of items purchased due to a weighting error.

A Kroger shopper also claimed he was “humiliated” by an employee after allegedly being overcharged more than $52 for the items.
