The fast food joint launched the money-saving combo on June 25.

McDonald’s customers can choose between a McDouble cheeseburger or a McChicken sandwich and also purchase small fries, four-piece chicken nuggets and a small soft drink.

The $5 Meal Deal will be available through August at most locations.

Around 93% of restaurants voted in favor of extending the agreement, reports Reuters.

Some locations haven’t voted yet, which could mean different restaurants will offer the deal at different times.

The combination helped bring customers back to McDonald’s after the company reported a first-quarter profit loss, according to a memo reviewed by Reuters.

“We heard our fans loud and clear: They’re looking for even greater value from us, and this summer, that’s exactly what they’ll get,” said Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, when the Meal Deal was first launched. turn.

SIMILAR SAVINGS

Fans of rival Wendy’s pointed out that Meal Deal is very similar to Biggie Bags, launched in 2022.

The combo comes with any sandwich or burger, fries, four-piece nuggets and a soft drink.

“It’s a replica of the Wendy’s BigBag meals they’ve been eating for many years, but yeah, it’s a good deal. I’m sure BK has some variety too,” one person he wrote on Facebook.

Burger King has its own $5 meal. The $5 Your Way Meal comes with a Whopper Junior, Chicken Junior or Bacon Cheeseburger, fries, four-piece chicken nuggets and a soft drink.

HIGH PRICES

McDonald’s has faced harsh backlash from customers who have noticed that some prices have risen by up to 150% in recent years.

From 2019 to today, the price of a McChicken chicken sandwich has increased 201.6%, from $1.29 to $3.89.

Equally shocking is the 215% increase in the price of a cheeseburger, from $1 to $3.15.

Prices for medium fries, Big Mac and 10-piece McNuggets increased by $2.40, $3.50 and $3.09, respectively.

Medium fries were up 134.1%, a Big Mac was up 87.7% and a 10-piece McNuggets was up 68.8%.

In May, Erlinger addressed concerns about price increases in an open letter to customers after customers spotted an $18 Big Mac at a McDonald’s in Connecticut.

“I can tell you that I am frustrated and concerned, and so are many of our franchisees, when I hear about an $18 Big Mac meal being sold – even if it was in one U.S. location out of more than 13,700,” he wrote in a declaration.

“More concerning, however, is when people believe this is the rule rather than the exception, or when they begin to suggest that Big Mac prices have risen 100% since 2019.”

He said “inflationary pressures” had affected all sectors of the economy, including the fast-food industry.

The reason is still not enough for some customers to buy a Big Mac or McChicken.

One customer said it would be better not to eat than to spend money at McDonald’s.

Fast-food fans had an interesting theory about rising restaurant prices.
