A SAM’S Club customer was left frustrated after a poor delivery experience, criticizing the online store.
The warehouse club quickly defended itself but did not apologize to the buyer.
Sam’s Club customer Jenny Brown vented her frustrations with the retailer after repeatedly experiencing issues with her deliveries.
“Sam’s Club, I love you. I do. But you guys are the worst at packing boxes for shipping,” she wrote in an X publish from last week.
The customer paired her post with images of the damaged produce, including a container of garlic and a bottle of olive oil.
Both products were dented and the box they were shipped in was stained, indicating that one of the products had likely spilled.
The Sam’s Club help page quickly addressed and defended the customer experience, acknowledging the issue.
Sam’s Club Delivery Fees
Sam’s Club offers same-day delivery exclusively for members.
Warehouse Club charges an $8 delivery fee for Plus members and a $12 fee for Club members per order.
The fee covers the cost of the store’s delivery people.
There is no minimum order value.
“Hi. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is definitely not the experience we want you to have,” the warehouse club wrote.
Sam’s Club invited the shopper to contact the store via DM for further assistance.
The retailer, however, did not apologize to Brown for the damaged products.
CLUB COMPLAINTS
In addition to poor delivery quality, other Sam’s Club customers are frustrated with the retailer because of the perks for Plus members.
The retailer offers shoppers two membership levels – the Club membership for $50 annually and the Plus membership for $110 per year.
One benefit of paying extra for the latest membership level is access to the store’s earliest shopping hours.
From 8am to 10am, only Plus members can shop – but many Club members are unhappy with the policy.
Club member Robert Linthicum criticized X for the rule, explaining how it forced him to get rid of a cart full of $200 worth of groceries.
He told how he was at self-checkout when he scanned his membership card and the register denied him the ability to complete his purchases.
“On-screen response: ‘Pay us $40 for the privilege of shopping before 10am,'” he fumed.
Linthicum noted that he pressed a button requesting help, but no one came to help after a few minutes, so he abandoned his shopping.
Other Sam’s Club members were similarly frustrated with the retailer after it announced it would eliminate the free shipping benefit for Plus members.
Previously, shipping was free with no minimum purchase, but Sam’s Club announced it would change the policy starting August 19th.
Free shipping will only be available on orders of $50 or more, and those below the minimum amount will incur an $8 fee.
The shipping benefit was popular among Plus members, and many felt that the premium membership would no longer be worth it after the benefit was removed.
“Why are we paying for a Plus membership when now the only benefits are opening the doors before they open at normal hours? Is that worth $110 a year??? Hell no,” said one customer.
“Sam’s must honor all perks until each member’s contract expires. Sam’s Club, are you listening to your members?????”
Another Sam’s Club customer canceled his membership after 30 years due to a card issue – he begged for help for hours.
Additionally, a non-member was charged for membership after his girlfriend used his credit card to make purchases.
