The West Richland restaurant was about two hours from Spokane.

A sign on the door thanked customers for their support and cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for the closure.

Local residents were sure that the restaurant’s prices were to blame.

“Too expensive and it’s been a long time” commented a Facebook user in a post announcing the closure.

“The one in Spokane is really expensive! Cheaper to go to Jersey Mike’s,” wrote another.

A third customer said the restaurant was priced out of the market.

“It’s sad to see people unemployed, but the food was very expensive,” they added.

Tri-Cities residents have expressed concerns about more Firehouse Subs closures.

“Rumors are that the other three locations in the Tri-Cities will close in the coming weeks,” he wrote the author of the original post on the Everything Tri-Cities Facebook page.

MORE CLOSURES TO COME

Starbucks announced it would close a location near West Seattle.

Big Lots confirms three more stores are closing, launches 20% off sales – while dozens of locations are about to close

The cafe at 2742 Alki Avenue will close on August 11.

There was an immediate reaction from customers, who started a petition to keep it open.

“Alki Beach Starbucks is more than just a coffee shop; it is a central gathering place for our community,” the petition states.

“It provides a space for friends to meet, families to connect and neighbors to gather.”

Starbucks’ location boosts the local economy by attracting visitors who then go to nearby businesses, the petition says.

Closing store

Customers learned of Firehouse Subs’ closure from a sign posted on the door, which read:

“Firehouse Subs is closed!

We want to thank our community for their support.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are closed!

Thank you again! We will miss you!”

“Its closure will create a void felt by many, especially remote workers who use it as a hub to take a break from their home offices,” he continues.

The petitioners argued that the location was “vital” to the community and pleaded with Starbucks to keep it open.

Unfortunately, Starbucks stood by its decision to close the store.

The retail sector also faces closures.

Big Lots announced that 40 locations are closing and launching clearance sales.

Similarly, Stop & Shop announced that 32 underperforming stores will be closed.
